Thanks! I know that you’re not a replacement to visit and have someone specifically look at me, but this is the first video where you focus specifically on this. I’ve had this problem on my right foot for a couple years now and I’ve recently started having it on my left. I’m getting to the point where hurts to 🎉 walk at all and I have two year-old. Not walking is not an option. Going to make sure I stretch better every single night, ice my ankles, get the shoes you recommend and possibly make an appointment.

I drive Uber and finally figured out bad foot positioning has caused this for me. It is improving as I work to maintain my knee and ankle at a 90 degree angle as my default position, and really focusing on keeping my foot/ankle/tibia/calf relaxed while I drive.

I watched this video yesterday and used a rubz ball (ball with spikes on it) and the Stick to massage my foot and calf. I did the massage last night and twice today. I also stretched my hammies, glutes and piriformis muscle this morning. I iced a couple of times and now I am feeling much better. I will try stretching my calf muscles tomorrow and will keep doing the massage with the Stick.

Gosh I just love what a wonderful doctor you are! Not one podiatrist knew what this was when I presented to them when I first had this! I have this in my left foot. I did have a stress fracture of 4th metatarsal, but not one specialist MD ever had done more for me and none ever gave me self care like you do for me and people! I use Chondrosamine Plus from Biotics Research Corp and Hyaluronic acid for pain and nothing works better for healing and pain!
Blessings dearest doctor! You’re the best on TH-cam and in your field!

This video is amazing. Looking at other TH-cam videos you can just really tell you know more about the topic than most other TH-camrs. One yoga guy whose video is really popular is telling people a bone in their foot popped out and you just need to push it back in. Ridiculous.
I have always had tight calves. I stretched by leaning against a wall while keeping the target foot flat on the ground. You probably know the stretch. It's ok but I just got that angled step board you showed at the end and oh my God that is so much nicer. No more foot sliding around trying to get a good angle and sometimes not even feeling the stretch. That thing burns! (in a good way). I'm using it constantly and hoping that alone will fix a lot of things for me but I'll try the other tips you give too. Thanks so much for the video.

I got it after wearing new Hoka Bondi 8 shoes for 2 months at work where I walk on my feet all day. I have very high arches, and was told that particular shoe is not for people with high arches. I think those shoes caused the anterior tibial tendinitis because they didn’t have arch support for my high arches

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Not a bad idea, it does come down to your biomechanics: Barefoot shoes promote shorter but more frequent steps, shoes promote longer and less frequent steps. This can effect people's muscles & joints differently.

Man I have tendonitis in my shin and its extremely painful took ibuprophin helped with the inflammation but not the pain. I ended up getting a medical walking tall air boot as last resort to stabilize foot shin. Wow it did a great job even the pain was relieved to bearable to no pain at all. No thanks to doctor for help. I bought boot for 91.00 from medical supply store and what a game changer I was skeptical best 91 dollars spent recommend getting one if you are on your feet 8+ hours a day on concrete floors. Because tendonitis will come knocking its no fun.

I actually had this issue before. I don't know exactly how it happened but I believe it was from constantly getting off a vehicle to make my deliveries. Exiting from the driver's side and constantly putting pressure on the foot and sometimes even aggressively exiting the vehicle plenty a times.
When I would plant my left foot down in a normal walk, I noticed my left foot would always slap the ground a bit harder.
Anterior Tibialis exercises seems to have corrected the issue. Note, I was also getting discomfort, not pain, on the Tibialis anterior.
Flatter shoes also seemed to help me as sell, don't know if it will help you. 😅
    🤗😎👍
Edit: Don't forget your stretching. Hamstring stretches helped me.

Also, the one thing your graphics showed was an image of a broken or injured Lisfranc ligament that you showed but never talked about. That is where my injury is.
Got the injury from playing tennis in not proper tennis shoes that had very flexible soles, I felt the break when it happened.
Has not healed. Is surgery the only way to fix the break or can it heal with time?

sensational info - thanks so much. Shame my issue is now chronic after seeing osteo, physio and doctors for 4 years. Finally insisted on scans and I have severe arthritis in the mid foot and other foot joints. Swimming and walking made the pain worse... I now have orthotics and need to do these exercises to reduce pain.

I had ORIF for a posterior malleoulous fracture. On day 45 and started walking without support at home with my hooka slippers. I cleaned, walked a lot but… suddenly I started to have pain on the front part of the foot. I put myself back in the boot and non bearing weight for a week, to give it time to heal. Agh… don;t do stupid things people, just because you want to be ahead of the game,…

Irish dance overuse. In Irish dance it’s a lot of pointing and flexing the feet (mainly ankle movement) along with landing incorrectly, not doing enough rehab exercises after my sprain, and not sufficiently warming up.
It’s a common injury in my sport but it still sucks

Please consider updating your video to include the newer recommendations concerning ice and rest. Even the RICE guy, Gabe Mirkin, changed his recommendation.

In some of my newer videos I go over this a lot including tbe new studies. Rice is not meant to heal rapidly, it's meant to stop night time or throbbing pain in injuries. Early mobilization definitely great, but icing will not hurt or damage anything 😊🙏❤️
