  • The first season of Horse Town looks behind the scenes of a busy Newmarket racehorse yard. In only his first year as a trainer, Dylan Cunha has had to deal with bringing his family from South Africa and starting a business in the UK. His first year has been a mix of great success and frustration, but the wins are coming.

My daughter was lucky enough to get a 3yr old who just didn't have a heart ❤ for racing. We got him from th Randjesfontein stables in Midrand. He became her friend for the rest of his life. Sadly we lost him Northern Blush (nickname Charlie Brown) at age 29years. I hope that most of them are lucky enough to end up in good ❤forever homes 🐎

She was lucky. Usually when a horse doesn't make it it's because they're injured. I don't think they should be able to resource till it is at least five years old.

I have a question being I’m new to thoroughbred and horse racing, I was always taught that you don’t get on a horse until age 4 yrs maybe even 3 yrs being slightly too young. Because they are growing and you can damage the horse for life. Are the rules different for race horses? If so please explain? Other breeds that get started with a rider don’t get ridden longer than 10 minutes.

So sad that they are in work yet their bones and muscles are not where near fully developed

Maybe turn down the music a little. I’d sort out the plastic railing. When one of the yearlings spooked you could just see that it was going to plant its shoulder into the exposed end of the rail, which it duly appeared to! Nice video nevertheless 😊

What happens to all thoroughbred horses if they don't make money for the owner.... Off They go to auction, maybe a few are bought from people and the rest, meaning most are sent to slaughter houses. Their legs and hooves and mental state are so damaged it's unbelievable. Look it up. Racing is horrible for these beautiful creatures. All done for humans pleasure and money!!!

Why bother making adverse comments on here when you obviously have an attitude, and know nothing about the TB in the UK. No owner would expect to make money, it's a hobby not an investment.

You obviously know nothing. Lots of horses if they don't win are put for sale/auction to go off to homes and if they don't get sold they are trained for different discipline or are made as pacers.

@@ladygardener100they are sold into the kill pipeline! Yearlings should not be ridden! The bones are still growing, this is how they end up with a catastrophic injuries later in life! How can anyone with a conscience care for a sport but not care about the animals behind it?!

@@ladygardener100 do you really believe that? So these people are just independently wealthy and don't need to make a dime from racing? Really?

I think horses should not be released until they are at least five years old. That way they would not be disposable at three years old. Many of them are worth more dead than alive. Thanks to Insurance. It doesn't really matter if the horse gets hurt and breaks down. Yes there are some happy stories but most of them are just tragic. I used to love horse racing until I learned more about how it really works. Very sad because these are gorgeous animals.
