I watched some of the dev streams on this, the engine is really interesting and I'm excited to see what modders do with this. Pretty much every pixel, that isn't background, is an entity that can have its properties modified which feels crazy to me.
As speedrunners noted from the demo, ships can pass through as little as a 1-pixel-wide tunnel, which can be dug very quickly. You only need enough space for them to rematerialize, and I believe there’s a way to dig a chunk of land the exact size and shape as a ship. Those strats might not be worthwhile if you’re not pausing frequently to get a good time, though.
This reminds me of Powder Game, that old pixel-based sandbox physics simulator thing that was huge in the mid-noughts. Particularly the way the acid works, seeing it evaporating then re-condensing completely activated that memory in my head.
also some fun things i learned that helped me play a few levels. hold tab and scroll your mouse wheel to easily change the size of the terrain tool. make it larger to have less of those annoying 1 pixel spots. press tab while holding a ship to be able to change the direction its facing. lets you get some of them in tighter. also, the creepr level graph is in the top right menu, 4th grey button down with the little blue square. you can see total count, or delta, which is the amount the creeper is changing. Have fun with ixe, its a blast so far in my opinion
Ive played creeper world since the originals. playing them on kongregate! some might say this is a step back from what the previous games have done. I disgree. this is a departure from the normal large scale rts forsure. This is much tighter. some one said think, normal 40k tabletop vs kill team. its a good analogy. 2d vs 3d shouldnt matter when it comes to creeper world imo.
I've been having a lot of fun playing this game!! As a long-time fan of the Creeper World series from the flash game days as well as a follower of the development of Creeper World IXE, I'm glad to see a return to the Creeper World 2 side-on perspective as well as the addition of "sand simulator" mechanics, for lack of a better term. I've already seen people say this is a step back because of the return to a 2d perspective, and a side-on one at that, but I feel that's a very short-sighted way of looking at the game because it's genuinely really good and really fun.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1831 Oh so good to see a return of Creeper World IXE :D was so much fun the first time, and as such is even funner now, plus, it being released today is fantastic news :D Oh now, the Cryo Ship does look like a shark, very cute indeed :D Come on, made up all the names for CW4, gotta keep up the tradition for IXE The digging in this game is always so satisfying, so big fan of Aggressive Digging XD I am very much looking forward to seeing more :D
even though this is a completely different genre than the last creeper world it still looks like a really interesting sandbox. the modders are gonna have a field day with this one
Creeper World 4 exists already, unless you mean a next Mainline Creeperworld that is supposed to be like 4. This is not meant to be the "next main Creeper World". The dev used the basics of CW2 and expanded and refined on it, that's also why this is explicitly not Creeper World 5, but IXE instead
I hate this take, not because it's wrong but because of how good the game really is. I don't think this game will get nearly enough players just because of the visuals and it's a shame.
Than,s for covering the game, can you also speak on the issues surrounding usage of AI in the creation of the game? There was major community outcry about the usage of AI on this project.
It was also a stupid outcry. The AI voiclines are the Devs own voice which he AI cloned for consistency and all other voicelines are by paid, professional narrators. The AI Pictures are also his own/payed for and then extended/enhanced with Photoshop generative fill, wich is trained entirely on Adobes own pictures and pictures released under the creative commons licence (CC BY to be exact).
@@Gorbag100 I wasn't aware of any type of generative AI being used for IXE, but I don't see any ethical concerns with the usage of properly-licensed and self-created content filtered through a generative AI. I'm sure there could be aesthetic and creative concerns, but those are much more subjective than the actual moral problem of artists having their works used as training data without their consent which isn't an issue here if what you're saying is correct

Taking a large dollop of inspiration from Noita, I think.
@@synchc Both of those games likely took inspiration from an old sandbox flashplayer game from the early 2000s
Game: "Tactical analysis"
Tom: "Tactics anyway"
You know that's not what they pay him for.

I think it's done using space, but I can't figure out how. I accidentally stumbled on it once and have never managed to figure it out since
6:40 The acid is vaporizing, condensating and raining down.
You need to be aware that those are mechanics Creeper World IXE can simulate.
Huzzah for pixel physics! Been lookin' forward to this for a while, and always glad for more Creeper World from Tom!

Full playthrough of IXE story mode.
if creeper world 4 feels like a large scale battle, then IXE feels like a cool kill team

Big Creeper World 2 vibes
i much prefer creeper world 3 imo
Like the other replier said, it's very reminiscent of Creeper World 2, and I'm glad to see a return to a 2d Creeper World format
@@gakulon as much as I enjoyed 2, it's just a bit of a downgrade from 3 and it's rts feel
It's almost Lemmings like in some ways, which is so cool. I absolutely love the style of this game! The way the ships move is just amazing.

This is Creeper World 2 with Noita physics
Well, this time he learns the gun's names. Wonder if he will learn the game's name by the launch of the next one
i honestly love the remix of the cw 3 music that got put in here. you can hear it well at 25:50
Can't wait for the PAC and FPS maps! I have played every custom map that you do. Love this game.
I'm REALLY hoping for some awesome Play as Creeper and Creeper/Anti-Creeper Cursor maps.
This was awesome!!! Please do the whole story!!!!!!! Another fantastic vid Tom!
i did enjoy this actually.
Huzzah! Super excited to finally try this out.
There’s a tangent option on the Main Menu. Perfect for Captain Distracto 😂
Fightin' the Creep with Tom's Troopers!
Hey Tom, Nullifiers in this game are MOBILE!
I knew there would be a video dropping on the same day as the release
Praise be
This game looks fun.
Let's see more Tom!
Tom on CW classic!
it feels like I'm playing lemmings..
Let's gooo 2d creperr
NANOMACHINES, SON!!!
Tommeh!
have to admit, not a fan of the new creeper world.
This seems like a mobile version of Creeper World and a step backwards returning to 2D. Hopefully, they make a creeper world 4 soon
