Donald Glover, a man who wrote bits, knows this is a bit. But even though he knows it's a bit, he can't help but recoil from the sheer absurdity.
Usually people don’t spray water on you or touch you for bits , it’s a easy way out.
Eric takes people that are used to being socially awkward and makes them *physically* awkward; you can harden up all you want for some social unrest but when you're sat center and treated like "The Clown" it can be really hard to find a natural way of reacting. That's what Eric banks off of; everyone is called a clown but he makes you *feel it.*

I think Eric knew what made him feel uncomfortable. So assuming liquids and contact makes him feel uncomfortable. They design these interviews to bring them out of their comfort zone.
Credit to Eric Andre, this show continues to get harder to do the more popular he becomes yet he continues to deliver.

I thought he'd be more fun than this... aside from the olden days when people didn't know what they were getting into, why come on the show if you're going to be this uptight?
@@tl7988 I think the point of the show is to get these people in a situation where they have no idea what they're actually getting into and then make them as uncomfortable as possible. Glover probably thought he was going on an actual interview and then got dusted when he got there. So he fell in line with what they wanted out of him basically, though he was one of the most gracious and chill guests I've seen that weren't vibing with the chaos. Tyler the Creator came on and leaned into it but that's probably because he's done stuff like Loiter Squad and the show's already his speed.
@@jonathanfairhurst5568 this interview is from 2023. You don't think DG knew EA? I would assume he knew of him at the very least. Watching this I thought it would have been closer to Tyler the Creator or the John Hamm interviews.
I agree with what you are suggesting is the premise of the show and an interesting sidenote, EA said that these interviews go on for about an hour... two to four minutes of airtime after an hour or so interview... so yeah, they try to put the guest through the ringer.

@@g0tst1ngsback in earlier episodes, it was more based on people not knowing the show. guests would show up and expect it to be like any other talk show, and they would slowly figure out it was a joke show. word of mouth spread, and i figured that would be the end. it was not

I thought the recent Eric Andre skits were not hitting the mark as they usually do, but this one was classic. The fact that he managed to make Donald - a man who has had his fair share of crazy experiences - feel uncomfortable is quite the feat.
