    Great video! Can I ask how the floors are lasting, my only worry is the pool noodles disintegrating? Thank you

    I like how there can be good airflow under this type of floor.

    Awesome video! What are you thoughts on painting and polyurethane for the top layer of the flooring?

      Hey Kimberly, I don't have a ton of experience with that, but I have trained barefoot on painted floors in the past and with any sweat at all they get pretty slippery. I'd suspect they also don't hold up super well over time.
      That being said, there may be some kind of product you can find built specifically for that type of application. If it exists I'm not familiar with it.

    Great videos! Very helpful.
    2 questions 1) would a 22x11 on carpet not slide around?
    2) What would you recommend for a transition ramp around the edging so to avoid stubbed toes?

    • @milliondollardancestudio3854
      @milliondollardancestudio3854  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike, I ran 2x4s through my table saw with the blade at an angle and used that for the small transition area that I have for my current floor. That seems to work pretty well.

    For the baseboard molding, can you recommend a certain type as well as material for this floating dance floor?

    We only have a space for a practice floor that is 8 X 12. So that is good as it will take 3 4X8 sheets. But we'll have to cut and alter the 1/4" so the seams dont'line up. Will the 3/4" which is sitting on the 1/4" not slide around? The are not buttressed by walls but just open. Any suggestions? Thanks

      Hey Molly. I've seen some people trim out smaller floors like this with 2 x 4s laid flat on the ground around the edges.
      If you need something more attractive than that you might check out the millworks section at your local building supply store.

    Another question: How did you build a transition in the doorway between the hallway height and the higher height of the dance floor?

    • @milliondollardancestudio3854
      @milliondollardancestudio3854  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran a 2 x 4 through my table saw with the blade at a 45 degree angle. I painted that black and installed it on the transition. It looks/works great.

    Can the noodles be bought in bulk or precut somewhere?

    • @milliondollardancestudio3854
      @milliondollardancestudio3854  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Last time I built a floor I just ordered the noodles in bulk from Amazon and paid my son a couple bucks to cut them.

      Million Dollar Dance Studio do you just measure and cut or did you have some sort of jig to make sure cutting was consistent (for volunteers helping). Wondering if some cutting that isn’t exactly accurate will affect it

    But 8 X 4 is 32 sq ft - not 24. So all those calculations arent right. Thx

    Can you recommend a good place to buy cheaper Marley?

    • @milliondollardancestudio3854
      @milliondollardancestudio3854  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rob, I don't buy Marley often enough to have a strong opinion on where to get the best bang for your buck. I know a lot of studios use shower liner, but I don't have any experience using that for a dance studio application.

      Million Dollar Dance Studio thanks so much for responding. Do you have any ideas for the 2 1/2" edge created if you don't take the floor all the way to the walls? Our space is part dance floor part entryway. Do I need to put something down so it does not float out of whack?

      @@HariyamaBallet I have not, I am still trying to convince others we need a better floor. I will report back when we do.

    What about adhesive?

    • @milliondollardancestudio3854
      @milliondollardancestudio3854  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Waffles. Let me know what you mean and I can give you a better answer. The less adhesive or nails that you use, the easier it is to move this floor in the future if you ever need to.

      Are you putting the liquid nails on the cut noodle pieces (how much) or on the floor board?
