    Just drove the Nullarbor. It is low plants and BIG sky. Anywhere you can, get to the Bight, especially unmarked or P rest stops closer to WA border. Just you and the edge of the world. Be cautious not stupid….it really is a dangerous wonder!

      I hate to correct you but the inaugural journey of this train was February 1970. You are only 1 year out. The Trans Australian travelled from Perth to Adelaide in 1969, maybe you are remembering that train as the carriages were identical.

    I did the trip in 1981, Sydney to Perth and back again the following week, while on a two-month speedway tour of Australia from the UK. It was the time of my life. I had an Austrail pass, which, I think, knocked a third off the usual fares. I was able to afford it quite comfortably, even on a limited budget as I was only 22 at the time. I would love to repeat the trip, and roll into old Perth town one more time. But I simply could not afford the modern prices...and so...
    That is the land of lost content,
    I see it shining plain,
    The happy highways where I went
    And cannot come again.

    Wow . What an awesome trip . I remember back in the mid 80’s me and my dad used to have a look in the Indian pacific at central station departing platform. Back in those days you were able just to walk through the train and I used to drool back then I was only about 12 years old then . So this video has brought back fond memories of my childhood. Still have not actually travelled on the Indian pacific though. But one day as it’s still on my bucket list….thanks for sharing 👍🍻

    Did the trip back in march 2021 in Gold class with my sister it was an incredible trip after having to delay trip due to Covid restrictions could not fault the staff they were brilliant only downside was the rough ride between Parkes and broken hill due to track conditions if you get the opportunity do the excursion out to the sculpture park well worth it, and the other small issue I had and maybe it’s just me but the time down in Adelaide to maybe 3 hours instead of the 7 hours just saying

    Indian Pacific is a great trip but not for young kids. They probably won't appreciate the scenery and will be bored stiff. Our family went about 25 years ago before ipads and smartphones and my brother and I were bored witless and hated it. The only reason us kids went along in the first place was because we were free (dad worked for the rail company at the time) otherwise we would've stayed at Nanna's 😆. Might do the trip again as an adult though.

    Posted in 2021. When was the journey taken (no social distancing)? I did it (in reverse) in 1996. No free drinks even in what was then 1st class. Single room with basin and toilet, two showers in each carriage. Great food but no excursions in those days. About half the price quoted above but good value. Suggest taking a good book (War and Peace(?); once you've spotted the first Emu/Kangaroo there isn't a lot to see

    One of the problems with these tours is you are in for extra costs in any case with all the side tours to restaurants and you get no choice where they take you and they have deals with with places to take large groups there. I suppose if you want more contemporary you wouldn’t take this tour. Still good value for more sedate people. I wander if you can do your own thing if not choosing to go to some of these things?

  • @btakesa
    @btakesa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I enjoyed your clip, however when you stated it was not cheap how much did it cost. So many clips are produced but not many will say what it cost. Did you have to pay extra for the tours or is it all inclusive. After your free drink did you have to pay or was it all included in fare. Just little things but I think your viewers would like to know. I saw that they have a crew car, would it have been possible, with permission to see how they are looked after. Thank you. Cheers mate.
