The X-15 flight regime described by UFO bloggers is totally delusional. The X-15 fired its rockets to soar on an upwards arc to the edge of space, coasting up and over through near-vacuum, then falling back into the atmosphere. It was at the peak of that trajectory, with the aft-mounted steering thrusters pointing the ship in random directions, that cryo ice [visible in the pre-drop photos of the X-15] came off the skin and out of the thruster nozzles. You see the same effect at that same altitude and speed when the shuttle jettisons its fuel tank, lots of dancing dots of ice flakes.

I can go back to 1974-5. Broad daylight, bright cigar shaped craft moving slow enough for me to watch it for half an hour. Don't know how far off it was but it passed behind a local church and you could still see it through the bell tower slats on the Windows.

Right, ice crystals.. any nitrogen that would cause ice on the exterior would be well behind the pilot. The leading edge of the aircraft including the cockpit area would be many hundreds of degrees hot. No way any Ice crystals would be seen by the pilot. This BS is why I don’t watch this channel.

The X-15 fired its rockets to soar on an upwards arc to the edge of space, coasting up and over through near-vacuum, then falling back into the atmosphere. It was at the peak of that trajectory, with the aft-mounted steering thrusters pointing the ship in random directions, that cryo ice came off the skin and out of the thruster nozzles. You see the same effect at that same altitude and speed when the shuttle jettisons its fuel tank, lots of dancing dots of ice flakes.
