the most astonishing thing in this tournament is jim courrier losing all three matches , being a finalist in 1991 and 1992 , i thought he will be at least in the semis

It had its time but it was relatively short-lived.

Jim Courier was already past his prime here. His decline really started with his 4th round loss at the US Open 1993 against Pioline and from then on it only went downhill for him. In 1995 he had a kind of a short-lived "revival" though.

Not good in terms of titles but had a final in Australia and semifinals at Wimbledon. He was still ranked among the best. From 1994 the declibe began.

@@WONGLER Yes, I would say Edberg's real decline began at the beginning of 1995. But signs of a declining Edberg could already be observed in 1994 or even in 1993. In 1994 he was so disappointing at the Grand Slam tournaments. Only one semifinal (Australian Open), 1st round loss at Roland Garros, 2nd round loss in Wimbledon and 3rd round loss at the US Open...
