    Hello!
The “Into the Pray” podcast lands this week in a new “on the run” vlog-form. Please let us know in the comments section if you like it!
Our main giving page is here: firebrandnotes...
*We especially need help with a new filming project that is arguably the most important project we will ever produce. We need financial backing but also expertise from film-makers/editors.*
Episode #3, discussing Nicky Gumbel's #AlphaCourse, is from the world-famous Dunnottar Castle followed by a detour in from the wind to a coffee shop, (we resisted the delicious cakes on offer).
The conversation today follows on from Nick's more in-depth podcast a few days ago in which the sobering reality of Billy Graham and John Stott's Lausanne "covenant" was exposed for what it is. You can listen to it here: podcast.firebr...
One of the chapters of Dr. ES Williams’ book featured in that conversation covers Nicky Gumbel's ecumenical Alpha Course. 😭

Going to get the book you've recommended. I have been very surprised just recently to learn that some people in my church who have been Christians for a long time don't even know their bible, one of them is a member of the church ( which I don't agree with membership) I don't understand if they are baptised born again Christian why they haven't got a hunger for the Word ?

Exactly. When I first got saved I definitely needed help from teachers (Ephesians 4:11-14) but the main thing was that I had a strong desire to read the Bible constantly. Also, I had almost no religious background so it was all new to me.

Yeah, I was brought up with Italian Catholicism and have seen how it binds people (including my own family) to something dangerously false and not the Gospel. Over the years I have been nigh on stunned by the way in which believers appear to accept that Catholicism is basically OK with just a few minor differences. I wonder if that's because they are only exposed to either a very British or North American expression of it, which tends to soften the edges and appears to seek ecumenical relationships. It's a very different picture in Mediterranean and South American Catholicism.

Thank you, Tony. Paul’s use of the word “astonishment” in Galatians 1:6-7 conveys it exactly. The general lack of awareness in the Church that any (and every) of these compromises equate to the desertion of a Spouse is truly frightening. To God be the glory.

Ive been watching some of the films, he doesn't do scriptures in context. Romans 2 for one, he talks about not judging because of this. But this isn't true, we are meant to be doing this, as long as its not hypothetical judgement. He says we must repent, but only once, arent we meant to die to our flesh everyday? He also seems to promote the sinners prayer...

Sorry, I think you’re meaning the Alpha videos? Anyway, yes, there is usually some semblance of the gospel (passing reference to repentance etc.) but it’s all governed by the overriding priority to appeal to the masses, (hence the other chestnuts you mentioned about “not judging”) … which of course is not the point: This video explains what true discipleship is: th-cam.com/video/1kua5tVHYzM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1iqkIkJ0Wou2phN3

@@Wyldfam I hear you. The best thing I can suggest here is to spend an hour listening to the podcast (pinned to the top of the comments in this video) that explains how the Alpha course is rooted in a false gospel and is unfit for those wanting to follow Christ. Beyond that, perhaps God is wanting you to speak to your brother-in-law about the concerns you have. I will pray…

'Love covers a multitude of sins' - so we can love Catholics - but it doesn't cover a multitude of heresies. We cannot fellowship with heretics and apostates, but we can eat with sinners. 'The serpent was more subtle than any other creature...' and that subtlety is evidenced in the separation of truth and love.

If we look at church history, then Prestestantism goes back 500 years, is that our basis for all Truth? Roman Catholic back approx 1000 years that split from one Catholic and Apostolic church as delvered to the apostles and the saints, ie Eastern Orthodox the original church in Antioch that Jesus established that the gates of hell would not prevail against. Surely we should be seriously now looking back 2000 years to find that the Orthodox church remains with little heresy, they being kicked out along the way or change to its teachings and traditions that they guard. This is an extremely persecuted church over time from nearly day one. The Bible backs up their teachings, not the other way around. Solar Scripture taking the text and then making what you like out of it simply has not worked - It cannot. Hence the chaos which just continues.... Maybe the Orthodox is the best kept secret that has been silent in the West, and the one true church on this planet to rise up. It is happening now.

That is the tragedy of past saints that seem all forgotten that they gave their lives for the truth of the Gospel however recent, they were in church history, that it can be so trodden on.

Throughout the centuries of Christian history the TRUE Faith, once delievered to the saints (Jude 3) was kept by a number of groups who were hunted and killed by the Roman Catholic Church wherever possible, so this idea that the RCC was the only form of Christianity available for 1500 years worth of the last 20 centuries is wrong.
The whole idea that either the RCC or the Eastern Orthodox Church is THE CHURCH that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 16:18 is not actually biblically valid. Any structural religion that insists on PRACTICES as well as BELIEF, is unfortunately unbiblical. The EOC does exactly that, as does the RCC and the idea of apostolic succession from Peter on downwards is also unbiblical and a false doctrine.
