    Put a new fuel tank on my LT2000 a bit ago. Original had separated at the seam and yes the gaskets was in the bottom of the tank in pieces. Also put on a fuel shut off like you have here, filter and new gaskets in the Nikki using the Kohler kit. Runs perfect now. I also remove the Ethenol from the gas for all my lawn equipment and my classic car. It is nasty stuff when left to sit between uses.

    Hey T.
    I do small engine repair.
    I actually wash the tank with dawn, and hot water.
    The volume of water will wash the particles out.
    If its gunked up with old fuel residue use pinesol and hot water, let it sit for 24hrs.
    And force air into it to dry.

However, I did notice you cleaned out the debris caused by the deteriorating gas cap, yet still used the same old gas cap after the cleaning.🤔 Did you clean out all the loose stuff off of the cap itself before putting it back on?? Wow! You got your money out of that belt. Did you check for side to side and up and down play in your spindle when you changed the blade? Is the blade the same distance from the deck all the way around?
      Also, a new belt definitely couldn't hurt. Check all you pulleys for play when you replace it. You've got a worn out bearing somewhere. Those old murrays are some good mowers! Good luck!

  • @thesaltlifemanshow5522
    @thesaltlifemanshow5522 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Personally I would have cleaned up that tray and tank b4 it rusts. I also don't really see the point of shut off valves on gravity fed engines. I do agree with putting a filter in line, Personally I only use wix filters. Be it fuel or oil and even air filters. As long as I've been working on engines I have done a lot of tests. Especially on old stuff wix is great and o reileys gives me a killer deal with bulk purchases.
    Since you had the surging already, I'd probably take the carb off and clean it with some carb and choke cleaner. Or at the very least I'd run a can of berryman b12 thru the tank. That stuff kicks butt and cleans out carbon in the combustion chamber.
    Something to me still sounds off on that engine to me. Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like it's got a bit of a knock or something.
    I really hate these new electric carbs. I have a cheap little yard man 24 inch cut deal and it doesn't have a choke or throttle. Just like most push mowers which I hate cuz you don't always want to have it running wide open...

    T-bone is so good at his work, The only way to really understand him is to watch him do his work. He shows shortcuts along the way, and he's so good at it That he doesn't say anything because it comes naturally to him. And I'll give you one example. Watch him cut the fuel lines. Notice how He takes a very small first cut and then a Larger second cut to give him a good square surface. How do I know? Because a standard set of wire cutters are too shallow and will not cut all the way through the fuel line hose. And the numerous times I have cut fuel line hose, I always force it in the wire cutters. And then I never get a perfectly square cut. And I have simply accepted it over the years. But the correct way to cut it is as T bone shows. Hillbilly's like teebone are true professionals and they have simply adopted shortcuts that become second nature of Their work, But they are true professionals and have extremely high skill sets. So don't let the humility and the earth friendliness of T bone fool you. He's one of the very best small engine mechanics you will ever see. And I admit he's better than me! Another fine job, Great work!!! 👍👍👍
