An example of Shooting film at night time with the Mamiya Rb67. If you want to know how to shoot film at night / medium format film at night, let me know below what you want to know in the comments below.
Some awesome photo’s there Liam! I’m just starting a couple of months ago with film (Rolleicord, Canon A1 + AE1) and was also walking around with a notepad to register what the settings were per photo. I have a digital camera too, so now everytime I take a photo, I also take a photo with the same composition and settings on the digital camera to record what I did...it helps a bit, just don’t change the settings too much of the filmcamera cause then you can’t keep track. You vlogging everything is also a very good option :-))) Greets from Holland, John!
Hey - That's a great way to do it. I normally go with the notepad option for all photos day and night. Knowing what you've shot is one of the only ways to get better. Keep up the great work and good luck on the film journey, I am so excited for you. It's just such a fun time learning your creative process :)
@@liammakesphotos Unfortatenly not with film but I've been wanting to purchase a medium format for a couple years now. I shoot a fair amount of nightscapes/astro/time lapse
That’s awesome I love the surreal nature of the night time photos. I can’t recommend enough getting a medium format camera. It has done wonders for my work. Do you have a place I can look at your shots?
@@liammakesphotos Yeah man I try and post a variety of stuff on my instagram instagram.com/daniel_lane/ I also have been making a bunch of vids on youtube for the past couple years
I've been doing some night photography with the RB recently. It's fun but setting up, especially with the RB, is very slow. Thats the process though. Unfortunatly I dont think the RB system is for me and might try out the M645 system instead.
@@liammakesphotos I think I found em but they have nothing like the track in your video. Your track is like this mellow cyberpunk vibe yet ambient as well, just a nice track!
Hey man, loved this video! Are you using mirror lock up for these?? How are you eliminating motion blur as there is no Bulb function, do you just push the film lever to end the exposure ?? They look so sharp if that’s the case
Hey, Great question. All you have to do is to end your exposure - turn the shutter speed dial up or down one stop and it closes the shutter if your tripod is stable and its a long exposure it won't show and shake or blur. It's a weird way to do it but it works.
I guess another thing to think about is because the exposure is so long when you click shutter speed you may bump it a bit but that’s only half a second over 1-2 mins of exposure.
Hey man, sorry for the late response, didn’t see the notification! Thanks for replying! I actually just shot my first roll of night photography a few days ago on the RB, just posted a shot on Insta @samwest_photos! Take care! :)
@@samwestguitar Yo, don't be sorry at all I was just looking at the comments and remembered a little more. Sick colours from the lomo in that latest post. Very cool effect !!!

Good call. It’s really not good for it. Takes time and patience, it’s not as easy as others
Diggin' the sound track!
Hell yeah - have a friend make it for me - check out ‘Acacia’ on Spotify

Great video. Thank you for mentioning the film at the end. I couldn’t see the speed when you opened it at the beginning of the video.
Thanks for the comment. I’ll be sure in the future to mention the full setup more clearly in the beginning of the videos!

reminds me of scenes from HEAT
Guess I've got to watch that now!
85mm medium format is not the same as full frame 85mm
I know that... it's a 165mm lens - P.S why are you watching all my videos to comment trash? lol
