    The glue on the back of the watch and on the lid worked like a champ! Easy peasy! Great video!

    Thank you so much for your fantistic informative video. I had no idea how to take the cover off my Ingersoll Triumph watch. I now have the knowledge but i cannot get it to unscrew as yet as it appears to be stuck solid. I am not a watch collector but found the video so fascinating. Thanks for making the knowledge available to all.

    I have a Caravelle pocket watch with double hinge - the rear cover opens to reveal the movement and the rear cover has two small wires that come out of the hinge on either side and apparently help hold the cover shut when it is closed. How do I snap the rear cover back on? I cannot seem to get the wires tucked back in correctly. I didn't see an example of this on your otherwise very helpful video.

  • @funlovingJohn
    @funlovingJohn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    No notch's on my pocket watch, very faint line between the case and the back cover. To small of a crack for X-acto knife blades so after watching your video that it was a screw on back. You showed to pull on the crown before trying to un-screw the back. Well the crown came out of the watch, and I can't get it back in place. So now I have a expensive broken watch that was working fine before, and still can't get the back off.

    • @bunnspecial
      @bunnspecial  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      After reading your comment I see your mistake. You say that you determined that you had a screw on back and then pulled on the crown. Why did you pull on the crown? No where in my video do I say pull on the crown for a screw on back. I say to pull on the crown only if the case is a swing out type. There is no back to unscrew on a swing out type case, just the front. The reason to pull on the crown for a swing out case is to clear the stem from the movement.

    • @funlovingJohn
      @funlovingJohn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bunnspecial I finely got the crown to snap in again. This is a high quality Yves Renoir Gold Swiss Quartz 51mm pocket watch that seams to keep perfect time.
      I would like to snap the back off to see the inside and see what battery it takes. I thought about using a utility knife blade as a chisel to snap off the back, but then snapping the back on again I might crack the glass. I have never seen a pocket watch with such a tight fit like no visible seam to put the blade into.

      I don't have or even handled a roskopf pocket watch. I looked at some on ebay and some were snap off with and with out hinges. Some I could not tell. I would have to see yours before I can help you.

    I have a Elgin pocket watch dated back to around the early 1900,s it belonged to my wife,s great grandfather and was give to him on his 21st birthday in 1907.. would like to know for sure how to open this watch as it still keeps perfect time we wanted to get the serial numbers off it but in the same respect do not want to damage it in any way,any help from anyone thank you

      I made a video showing how to open up a pocket watch case. Maybe you should check it out. There are many types of cases so watch the whole video before trying to open your case.

      @@bunnspecial I did watch your video and saw nothing in it that even looks like the watch I am talking about I even went to the Elgin site and posted a photo of it they have failed to even respond back.. I have tried to screw it off as that looks to be the way but it would not unscrew back or front.. this watch is from the early 1900 and runs perfect so we want to be sure and not mess it up in any way

      I would not be surprised if you don't hear from the Elgin site since not all watches were cased by the manufacturer. They had to get the watch in the case some how and would have to remove it for cleaning and oiling so there is a way to open it. Look it over with a magnifying glass for any seams.

    None of these methods work on my pocket watch, also mine does not look like any of the ones you showed. And i know its antique because of the Hampden Watch CO on the front.
