      Well, poor people can drive in expensive cars, dress well and eat well and still be poor. You know why? THEY HAVE NO SAVINGS. While there are legit rich ppl who do this, there are tons of poor rich wannabes who spend everything on image leaving them with nothing but crazy loans and an empty bank account. Who's gonna be laughing at the end of the day? Us poor folk who actually watch our spending.

    That moment when you're a student and realise that the monthly alcohol budget makes up more than your entire budget (outside of utilities and rent)...... Seriously, how do people make this much money to be able to spend $400/£290 on alcohol?!....... I have to wonder how it feels, cause right now I'd have so much left over if I was making what she does that I'd have no idea what to do with it all.

    Coming from a low income background, how can anyone spend that much a month on their own? I get nervous just eating out more than once a month, even though I'm in a better spot now. Wouldn't you want to save most of that for if something goes wrong? Like a medical emergency or losing your job for example.

      Bethany Ashley Thank you so much! It is definitely not easy. I just graduated with my BA degree in Criminal Justice and am now applying for state jobs, so I'm praying for a better job with a better salary and benefits. Not to get all weird and everything and tell you my whole life story, but I have been through so much in the past 6 years. I left my son's father after suffering through years of physical, financial, and sexual abuse, then we stayed in a shelter for a little while before I moved back in with my parents. My son also has autism, so trying to juggle taking care of him and helping him develop with his weekly therapies and other things like school and doctor's appointments, and at the same time,try to work and have time for self-care, it leaves me so exhausted at the end of each day. Getting my degree was just a small token of validation for everything I've been through so far. As a single mom, I might be biased, but I have so much respect for single moms and dads who go through so much each day to get where they want to be.

    • @b.ashley9222
      @b.ashley9222 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Lemons19902010 I don't mind you telling me about it. I'm so glad you've gotten out of your abusive situation. I been in one before and it takes a lot to get through that. Many people don't get away, but it's good that you're a survivor.
      It sounds like you're getting your life back on track after that, which is amazing with everything you've been through and are going through. Kids with special needs may be a challenge, but they're also beautiful, and I'm glad your son has you looking out for him. You sound like a beautiful person, so try to hang in there. I hope that your hard work pays off. If anyone gives you a hard time, just remember that there are a lot of people out there who appreciate you and what you're doing.

    I've always made my budget completely the opposite way. I start with my income, since my salary is what it is and I cannot really change that. Then I would count all the fixed expenses, i.e. rent, electricity, insurances, phone, internet, toilet paper etc. etc. After that I see the amount of money I have left to spend. Only then I get to the part I can regulate: how much I spend money on food (cheap/expensive foods), shopping, alcohol, restaurants, entertainment and savings.

      in some places, prices are higher for everything. people seem to have higher incomes but there's a higher cost of living, so a lot of people are still struggling. where I live, rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is like $2500 a month. the average small house costs over a million and many houses are $2-4 million.

      +Dan Li haha nope, just north of that in Vancouver, Canada! (it's a bit less in USD since the canadian dollar dropped dramatically). the prices are actually insane, we are in a housing bubble and the prices have been rising for years. Some people here are very very rich; there are a lot of elite (but usually nice) kids in private schools (tuition is $20,000 a year!), designer shops, and sports cars. Most of us live normal lives though, struggling, trying to find jobs, and the public school board here is going through a lot of cuts, which is unfortunate for me as a high school student. Here being a millionaire doesn't even mean anything (and my family is far far from it). I will say that Iove it here though, it's a really really beautiful city with good food, hipster cafés and shops, and a lot of nature!

      She's not rich just living life as a single person. You can buy unnecessary stuff and more alcohol and eat out more when you have no kids. But she has to be doing pretty okay to be living in California and spending $300 on dinner. Or maybe she has a savings and transfers every time she goes out.

    • @PixieoftheWood
      @PixieoftheWood 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live life as a single person with no kids. And sure, there's buying unnecessary stuff and more alcohol, but I can't even imagine what restaurant she could even go to where spending $300 would be a possible thing you could do. I thought I was splurging when I spent $30 at a sushi place, and that is notably one digit short of her bill. I don't know how expensive California is, but I can't even imagine how expensive it would have to be there for that amount of alcohol to be consumed in a month without killing you. I think that's like half a bottle of whiskey a day?

      there's absolutely no way she only pays 500 for rent. You can't get a studio in LA for anything under 1200 and Kelsey doesn't have any roommates so she's spending quite a bit, even if she lives in the valley. she's spending at the very minimum 1600 on rent since we know she has at least a one bedroom based on previous videos.

      I think so. One person at dinner doesn't equal $300 worth of food depends on the restaurant. The thing about group dates if bill comes in around $400-500 depending on the restaurant u going to. The group doesn't spilt the bill & sometimes it's just one person paying that hole bill. My thing on group dates, you can't come with me if your not going to pitch in when the bill comes. I ain't talking about $20 at least $50-100, if the bill is around $400-500
