"She" got something religious in the sound, an ineffability that made "her" living in the sphere of trascendent, meditative and supernatural (forgive my english... io parlo italiano/ je parle francais) thanks for your recensions

    I bought a CU24 from the 2012 Experience show. It's in Autumn Sky and has a flame maple Private Stock neck with Eagle inlay. It is a stunning guitar. Later, I picked up a Wood Library DGT in faded Whale Blue with a Korina neck and Macassar fret board. It is equally stunning.
    Both guitars play beautifully, stay in tune and have great sounding pups. I don't think I could choose between them. I'm a little partial to the DGT sonically. I get a killer tone when blending the pups. While fairly expensive at the time, they look like a bargain now.

      @@RatherBeRiffing Thank you for your reply! Appreciate it. So I've often heard on different reviews here on the tube that there are supposed to be slightly different neck shapes between the rosewood and maple version, maybe that's just imagination but it would be informative to know. I have to travel a bit to a guitar store and that's why I would appreciate such Infos before I attempt to get to a store :) or any sort of tips on what to pay attention to when you buy a se silver sky.

    I always watch your videos. You know a lot about guitars. Les Paul, PRS, Nik Huber, these high-end guitars are very expensive, but they have a special look, playability, and brilliant sound, which means articulation and sustain. All of these things seem similar, but they are not. Those are all I can say. I play Murphy Lab, Private Stock, and Dolphin Redwood.. working horse telecaster, S2 Custom. Of course, your sound and performance bring out these characteristics and are wonderful, thanks.

    Nice playing. And very nice collection. The only comparison that stood out to me as significantly different (on this end of the TH-cam audio compression) was the Silver Sky. Surprised me. The Orca edged out the Les Paul as well, to my ear. All the rest would come down to feel for me as to which I would gravitate toward. I would want to keep ALL those nice guitars. I am envious =-)

    Thanks for all these amazing tests and videos. I am interested in split coil in-between sound comparisons. I have a Wood Library, semi-hollw CU 22 with 3-way toggle. I have been trying to get close to a strat Pos 2 or 4 sounds. I even rotated the pickups so the slug coils are closer when split. I use a pan pot currently instead of the toggle, so I can dial in slightly more neck pickup mix in the in-between position to take it from a tele to more a strat. I still can't come too close to a strat pos 4.

    For a minute there I thought the DC 594 sounded a bit more muted than the LP but I actually think it was due to the fact that a lot of the lead parts you were playing on the LP were higher in the register.

    In the Gibson LP vs Singlecut 594, I think the Gibson had a more gritty growly tone that favours the classic metal/hard rock better than the PRS. At same time the PRS Singlecut's brighter upper-mids forward tone can do modern metal better than the Les Paul. Incidentally, the Gibson does warm cleans better whilst the PRS does bright clear cleans better. I'd keep both so I could do classic metal/rock with the Les Paul and modern metal with the PRS.
    I'll be honest, while I'm buying a '03 PRS Singlecut 10-Top next week (I've already playtested it and liked it), I'm ALSO keeping my FIRST ever LP I've bought years ago, a '12 Agile AL-3010SE. It's still my workhorse classic metal and hard rock LP. I intend my Singlecut to cover the modern metal genre altho it could in a pinch cover the classic metal/hard rock even tho it doesn't quite have the raunchy lows like the Agile. In a pinch I could run modern metal on my Agile but it doesn't quite have the upper-mids presence the PRS has. Like the PRS, the Agile is currently stock.
    Mind ye, the Agile doesn't follow the LP model exactly with an all-mahogany construction with ebony fretboard with an almost 14" radius on a neck that is slightly more slimmer than most Gibson Les Pauls.
    Paradoxically, the Agile has a better shredder neck than the PRS' Wide Fat neck. Even tho the tone of the two guitars goes the opposite way, LOL!

    • @RatherBeRiffing
      @RatherBeRiffing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well said! I like how you explained the differences in tone and how preferences vary based on context.
      I used to have a PRS SC from that era. In fact it may have been a 2003. It was just before they stopped making them due to litigation with Gibson. It was my #1 for years and I used it live and in the studio with a hard rock band. I even put EMG’s in it for a bit!

      @@RatherBeRiffing Thank you, I tend to be analytically methodical about things. I've had a multilingual translator for a grandfather, an English language teacher for a mother and a F15 fighter service technician for a father. I've learnt the precision use of languages and developed an exacting attention to details.
      I hope the PRS SC proves to be just as good as my initial impressions of it had been! This is my first "premium" American model guitar I'm buying. I don't have an American Fender or Gibson model …yet. The closest is a '92 Fender Mexican Standard Stratocaster, which is one of my favorite guitars.

      594 refers to its 24.594” scale length, which I believed was measured off a vintage gold top that Paul loved.

    • @TheGhostGuitars
      @TheGhostGuitars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RatherBeRiffing Ah so it's a variation of the 254 nomenclature that refers to the full 25.5" scale length? Cool, I should've seen that one coming altho I didn't know Les Pauls ever had a 24.594" scale length.
      That explains a vintage Japanese LP-ish guitar I have that had an almost 24.6" scale length. I thought someone messed up the scale length! Thanks for the info!

    • @RatherBeRiffing
      @RatherBeRiffing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! If the SE neck profiles are anything like their Core counterparts, then I would say they are very different. The DGT neck is narrower and thinner. The DGT's longer scale length add's a bit of snap while the shorter 594 scale length is slinkier feeling. Lastly, the jumbo frets on the DGT distinguish it even further from the 594.
