@jerquake943 what are you talking about? Do you assume everything? What's with the millennial stuff. Are you discriminating against age? What is your point? You are so stupid that's not drums.
I was 10 years old, when this song came out. Our dance instructor created a routine for one of our competition teams. Every time it plays on the radio, the memories of this dance number come back to me. Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine had several Billboard Top 10 hits in the 80s and 90s, and is an icon of their time. In all fairness, Gloria her husband, and son were involved in a near-fatal bus accident that collided with a tractor trailer on March 20, 1990 near the Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania. Her son had a broken shoulder bone, husband had minor head a hand injuries, while she had a broken vertebra in her back. She underwent a four-hour surgery to repair her spinal alignment with steel rods. Her prognosis for a full recovery was doubtful, so she retired. However, with extensive physical therapy, she made a miraculous recovery, and returned to the music scene in January 1991. In March, she launched a year-long tour to highlight her comeback. Since then, she's had numerous hit albums, a Broadway show, and was awarded the President Medal of Freedom for profound contributions to music and the Latin American culture in 2017. Her life story is quite interesting. I encourage people of the younger generations to read her biography. Many artists and others believe that it is inspirational.
She is one of my biggest inspirations of all time. I read this article when she spoke about going through physical therapy for her back and how she never gave up. She said something along the lines of, “Today, I’m going to walk five feet. Tomorrow, 10 feet, the next day 15, and so on and so forth.” She never gave up from her injuries and she was told she’d never be able to have more children after the bus crash. She proved doctors wrong by giving birth to a healthy baby girl in 1994, who has followed in her footsteps and is a singer herself now.

I always respected Gloria Estefan because her mother wanted her to go to college, but she wanted to be a singer. Our of respect for her mother, Gloria went to college, graduated and got a degree. Then she handed the degree to her mother and said, "That's for you, mother!" And then she went and did what she wanted, became a pop star.

Remember they were just starting to take off, so they needed to get their music known out there. Gloria (man, she was so short, tiny but wonderful person) and Emilio took a photo with my mom and me. We had gotten to talk with them for a few short minutes before they had to sign some other autographs and then depart for another Florida city, to perform at the next day. Never forgot that time they were a struggling band and saw them many times later too. Still have the photo, in one of my memory books... I will have to find and post it one day.

I listen to more country music than anything, but this Gloria Estefan classic from the 80's is one of my favorites. I was a young teenage girl when this song was on the charts back in the summer of 1985, just 16 - almost 17 years old. It's one of those songs that makes you smile whenever you hear it.
Used to wake up to this music when I was a kid, my mom played it on full volume on her obnoxiously loud stereo system at 6 in the morning. Heard it all the way from the 2nd floor. Good times.
This song is 38 years old. It still feels like pure energy. Now, if we could figure out how to harvest it... wouldn't that be grand? But that would be like trying to catch the lightning.

wow, what beautiful memories this music brings me, I was in the Paraguayan army serving physical punishment (100 push ups) around the year 85 when I heard this music for the first time and instantly loved it, even without understanding anything it said.
Last year they played this at my cousins' wedding and we all did a conga line. I was laughing because it reminded me of my aunt, since she used to have this song on a cassette tape when I was a little kid and we'd all dance. Now every time I hear it, I laugh and think back to those days.
@@aspenrebel lol I'm trying to figure out exactly what your problem is with the comment. The OP was sharing a memory from their childhood, but you have a problem with it because...? Well it *seems* like you want to get on the OP's case for making up the whole story, but you can't do that because you begrudgingly admit that the bit of the memory you find fault with, actually checks out on your imaginary list of facts. So what exactly is your issue? Or are you just trying to get a random stranger on the internet in some weird gotcha thing where you prove to yourself that... everyone younger than you don't know what they're talking about and will blatantly lie online simply to get your worthless approval because they're inherently inferior to you for not being born in the same generation as you?
Pure culture and celebration right here ! Gloria is a genius for creating this authentic salsa 💃🏻 Cuban rhythm 🥁 that makes everyone feel alive and exhilarating ❤️🔥🎶
The 1987 Edinburgh Military Tattoo had the tune to this song being played by the American band that showed up, I would watch it OVER AND OVER as a kid when I was really little in 1995 to 2000, I did not know that this was what that song was, so this hit me like a sack of filled with nostalgia for my childhood. I am really glad this song came across my recommended.

This is definitely a more fun, upbeat version of the 1980s. We got some great artistic media out of the 80s (movie, music, Broadway, etc), but it wasn't always a party. While it's fun to reminisce, and ponder "What if?", many seem to overlook the not so glamorous aspects of the decade.

Thank GOD I was raised around great Music. I can still remember the neighborhood parties. When the Miami Sound Machine was playing everyone was dancing. Take care everyone.
80s talent. That decade and talented music is severely missed!!
Yes! When there were actual instruments in songs 😂
Some dance pop had good guitar solos in them in the 80s. Gloria Est. and the MSM and the group Expose are examples.
Take care!!
Severely 🙏🏻
YES
Definitely
Impossível resistir a Conga e Gloria Estefan! Diva!! 💃🏻👏🙌🥰🤩
Siii irresistible !!!!!
1985
When that COVID-19 is finally gone, this is the song they will be playing for everyone to celebrate and to once again have fun.
Literally what i was thinking haha
Count me in, mate. 💣

Stay safe and be healthy everyone.
I really hope so! 😍
siempre. Saludos 🥰🇪🇸
Gloria Estefan singing Conga should have been part of the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2020 in Miami.
I was so hoping she would've came out. I kept thinking Sharika, JLo AND Gloria...3 very popular female latino artist on stage performing this together would've been AWESOME!! They really missed an opportunity there.
Me too, but unfortunately just didn't happen
totally agree
I was telling everybody at work she (Gloria) was gonna be the half time surprise...they really missed a grand opportunity to pay tribute to Miami and its Latin roots!!!!
👌👍
I listen to more country music than anything, but this Gloria Estefan classic from the 80's is one of my favorites. I was a young teenage girl when this song was on the charts back in the summer of 1985, just 16 - almost 17 years old. It's one of those songs that makes you smile whenever you hear it.
80s music was the best ever!
Fast rhythm! So much energy!! My favorite song in my teens!! Still relevant today!
Like song up lifting Ok Awesome 💯 Ok
Rhythm: Freestyle

Used to wake up to this music when I was a kid, my mom played it on full volume on her obnoxiously loud stereo system at 6 in the morning. Heard it all the way from the 2nd floor. Good times.
This song is 38 years old.
It still feels like pure energy. Now, if we could figure out how to harvest it... wouldn't that be grand? But that would be like trying to catch the lightning.
How are you
1984
1981
'' Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger
Don't you fight it 'til you tried it, do that conga beat ''
morrron5 thanks
Appreciated
Love you 😄😄👍👍👏👏👏👏
Saludos mi querida amiga Gloria E y familia,

This song is a American version of a famous Cuban song kimbara kimbara, by Celia Cruz a very famous Latin American singer.
Exactly.. by Celia Cruz !!
Thanks for blessing us with those facts , rip Celia
Como Celia Cruz tengo la Azucar. That's all I know of Celia Cruz lmao
Azuuuuucarrrrr!
No sabía ese dato, saludos
This song was massive in the mid 80's in all of Latin America...played at every house party for sure!!
wow, what beautiful memories this music brings me, I was in the Paraguayan army serving physical punishment (100 push ups) around the year 85 when I heard this music for the first time and instantly loved it, even without understanding anything it said.
Conga...Gooooo Gloria 2024🎉❤ This song gets you moving jumping energy moving upwards productive, lively electric 💡! To this day!
how lucky they were not having smartphones and facebook, everything was so natural and spontaneous
Last year they played this at my cousins' wedding and we all did a conga line. I was laughing because it reminded me of my aunt, since she used to have this song on a cassette tape when I was a little kid and we'd all dance. Now every time I hear it, I laugh and think back to those days.
cassette tape? They wre still around in 1985. At least you didn't say 8 Track or Reel to Reel.
@@cannibalisticrequiem what did you do, write a freakin' book?
I did a conga line with this song at Macy’s-
@@aspenrebel 8 tracks still exist...
Pure culture and celebration right here ! Gloria is a genius for creating this authentic salsa 💃🏻 Cuban rhythm 🥁 that makes everyone feel alive and exhilarating ❤️🔥🎶
Está muy bueno loco!!! El próximo estará mejor!!! Confía que eres un grande👏👏👏👏👏
If your partied in the 80’s then you know what real music was
Gonna be my first trip when they invent time machine
@@marton_dobo 👍😆
Not only that...you knew what a frickin' party was!!!
Yes the 80s was the only decade in all of history when music was good
I was 3 years old that time when this song came out. I remember my brother playing this song again and again. Cannot forget old memories.
Let me guess you have 42 years old
1985
The 1987 Edinburgh Military Tattoo had the tune to this song being played by the American band that showed up, I would watch it OVER AND OVER as a kid when I was really little in 1995 to 2000, I did not know that this was what that song was, so this hit me like a sack of filled with nostalgia for my childhood. I am really glad this song came across my recommended.
@@marcosachury2290 WTF??? JAJAJAJAJAJAJA tu hermano se pasa jajajajaja 🤣
This song make we wanna go back in time to see how the 80s feels like.
Dubb G. let me know if you’re going, I’m coming with you 😂
This is definitely a more fun, upbeat version of the 1980s. We got some great artistic media out of the 80s (movie, music, Broadway, etc), but it wasn't always a party. While it's fun to reminisce, and ponder "What if?", many seem to overlook the not so glamorous aspects of the decade.
It was A LOT of cocaine
I lived through the 80s. Computers and video games were new and cool, not attached to devices, folks did too much cocaine, and used entirely too much aqua net hairspray
@@cannibalisticrequiem War on drugs, AIDS, homophobia, cocaine, crack babies, Apartheid, serious famines, world hunger, those commercials of very emaciated children, there was a lot of not so pretty parts of the 1980's.
This song is timeless in my opinion - love the 80's
Man, music like this was always fun to hear on the radio growing up. Great band and great song!
I met a Cuban girl and now I'm addicted to their food, music and culture. Amazing people. Love from 🇹🇹❤.
Edit: Best song ever!
We all from the Caribbean, greetings from 🇵🇷

How can it be so 80's, so latin and so groovy at the same time!? xD
it really is amazing, isn't it?
cause that's exactly what it is?
'Cause it's the best combo of Latin music and European Electro-Pop, that was rocking the whole world back in the 1980's!
Shteno European electro pop didn’t exist then smh
@@safrenrecords WHAAAAT?!?!? Electro-Pop didn't exist in 1985?!?!?
LIsten to me little BOY, go on and learn a few things, and then come back here and try to make some comments! 'Cause explaining to you, when was the time when Alphaville, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, SAndra, Yazoo, Eurythmics and all the other existed, would be an exercise in futility and stupidity!
The is just hilarious.. the best intro ever! This would be a great alarm clock ring tone.
I love Miami Sound machine and Gloria Estefan.
Omg now I'm going to put this as my alarm
80's, 90's, and now... Gloria is eternal.
I feel like it's a song you enjoy on the beach, on the radio. You know, after hearing so bad news, pandemics, violence, etc. etc.
Far Cry 6 ?
Far cry 6 Lmao
I feel like it's a song you can enjoy while eating nachos and going to the bathroom at the same time
Disculpame Clara
If this isnt played at my funeral im not showing up
I'll be there hahaha
Same here 🤣🤣🤣

My exposure to this song was Futurama. Where Bender asked what if he was human.
wow, Im not the only one, finally someone who's not here from tik tok :D
Futurama lit!!!

He's 40% conga.
I’ve heard snippets of the song before, but yeah I heard this on Futurama too lol
I remember this song playing on whatever movie we were watching in history/cultures class during any thing about the Caribbean and Latin America. It was always a good time because the teacher would bring in a sample of food. 😅🎉
Gloria Estefan and Paula Abdul were huge influencers in the '80s. They're vocals and dance moves were inspirational and are timeless. So glad they're being discovered by a new generation of listeners. I know they'll be loved and appreciated for years to come.❤️
