He is his mother's son.

Who's watching now September 16th 2022 and Charles is the king, and the queen has just died. I'm so heartbroken for all of Great Britain. I love Diana. She died on my birthday. My personal opinion is that, yes, Prince William is very popular, and loved by the public. But, a huge part of this is down to the wonderful Catherine Middleton. She somehow, has brought out the best of this man, and they compliment each others characters wonderfully. This romance really is what fairy-tales are made of. She makes him shine, and likewise, she shines for him.
Eta: I look forward to the era of Kate and Will as king and Queen, I think they will be perfect. Alas, long live the Queen Elizabeth for now. And then there's Prince Charles. 👸

I don't. Having watched The Queen be a servant of the Country from the age of 26 years old I hope Prince William gets a good few more years of some time off to enjoy family life. I like these good-quality documents about real Royalty. About those who ACTUALLY do charity-work & do not just lecture about it to others. About those with actual class & who do respect their homeland & are loyal to it - I can respect that; even if I am not British, I feel for you about those un-named two and their betreyal. That means he knew he could always rely on his family unlike Meghan's family.

You're absolutely spot on. The laws pertaining to succession to the throne have been in operation for over seven hundred years.
Before the Law of Succession was introduced there was a gap between the death of a king and the coronation of his successor. This period between reigns was literally an "interregnum"
As it was then understood, the law was the King's Law, 'the law' in effect died with the king and was only re-introduced by a new king.
Interregnums were periods of lawlessness that could be and often were, exploited by rival claimants to the crown.
The law of succession removed that problem.
1. The heir to the throne is known and acknowledged.
2. His/her reign comes into existence at the very moment of death of the previous monarch.
3. Oaths of loyalty and all 'legalities' remain valid and are transferred to the successor.
4. There is no interregnum.
All this chit-chat about the Queen "knows" Charles is 'weak' and is thinking about choosing William is the babbling of ignorant people who know nothing of British history.

Contrary to what some may believe, monarchs are not elected, at least not in Great Britain. They inherit the role, which from now on will happen by absolute primogeniture. For instance, people didn't care for Edward VII when he first came to the throne and he proved to be a pretty savvy and competent monarch. On the other hand, Edward VIII, who had been adored by the masses as Prince of Wales, turned out to be quite ineffective and even abdicated! So you never know...

(Much better than icky Charles) I wonder how William felt about being called “the pinup Prince.” Lol, he’s gorgeous and so is Duchess Catherine. They make a wonderful couple and the UK and Commonwealth will be proud to have them as our future King & Queen Consort. It made me sad to see Camilla sitting at William’s graduation, it should have been Diana sitting there. I’m sure she’s watching over him from heaven, proud as can be.

I live in Sweden and I've heard only bad tabliod about Kate for a decade but she kept her head down, stod by her husband and continued working. This woman has been through so much. Today she gets to top with her head up and stays dignified.

I can imagine as a child being told you will be King of England that it would shape your perspective. I can imagine being told you will be second in line to the throne. Two very different roles and upbringing.

Watching this makes me grateful that William came first, but also sad that these lads who were so affective at charities together, and for now that is lost, and certainly there can’t be any trust as things are, such a shame this happens in families, and grateful for my own family
