...No, it's a word by anti-Western, anti-capitalist philosophers and thinkers and people use to claim that colonialization is still going on even though there are no actual colonies.
@@numbersix8919 I mean, take my "anti" phrasings with a grain of salt but that's actually the point. Post-colonialism is a term that describes what you said, but used by the people I described; it's a term to argue that colonialism is still going on and its effects are still active, and it's a term used to CRITICIZE the powers of the West, implying that they are still imperialist because post-colonialism is still a form of colonialism, it's not a term used by those powers.
It seem stupid to say that we can't say something ended because consequences are being felt. Consequences of something are typically felt after that something has ended.
Exactly. It's idiotic. As I said in another comment, by that logic, World War II is still going on, because its effects still have an impact on the world in a very real sense.
It is expected and fashionable to be cynical when talking about society, many people will never accept colonialism has ended because they dont want their polarizing worldview to be destroyed.
The problem with that is that by that definition, WWII is still ongoing because its effects are still experienced, or I still have the flu from last month because I still haven't quite recovered my stamina when running. A lot of continental philosophy is just an annoying form of "argument by redefinition" in arbitrary ways that don't quite make sense. But wanting philosophy to make sense probably just shows that I'm an imperialistic d*ck.
Similarly to the term post modern, that doesn’t imply a finish of the modern, but it’s transformation. Post-colonialism implies new ways of colonial ralaríamos. Portugal, for example, moves from a colonial empire to a kind of colony from Brussels, for example.
As I've read the culture of the novel of Chinua Achibe I forgot the tittle however as the Igbo culture they were compromised by the European or white people. As the white people introduce the new system of beliefs to igbo culture the people of Igbo were became colonized by the use of representation of European Empire. Therefore, the new knowledge of the igbo they get the post-colonial were implies to them by the coloniser of Europe.
It means that the style of colonialism has changed, much less military and much more economic with behind the scenes politics.
also known as neo-colonialism

Europeans are putting blue pills in Africa's water?
Isn't that neocolonialism?

The colonizers call it post-colonialism.
The colonized call it neocolonialism.
The official delusions must be maintained.
I guess that "post-colonialism" is a euphemism by which imperialist nations describe new forms of domination of their former colonies.

Besides post-colonialism there’s also coloniality (Quijano) and neocolonialism...
Well, postcolonialism doesn't mean after it's finished, it means after it was implemented.

@@Nature_Consciousness Neocolonialism is still very much real, it's just that it is different from colonialism and video uses bad arguments.

You should make a decolonial theory vs post-colonial theory episode.

I came for the thumbnail, I left satisfied.
I thought post-colonialism was a word that contests the colonial canon of literature (and thought?)

Neo-colonialism.
Nope. Post-colonialism is a myth.
