    Would recommend the white over the black interior, and I’m yet to find a better alternative to autopilot. Glad you recommended the car at the end, wasn’t sure if you were going to 😂

    I've had my RWD Model Y now for about 6 months and I absolutely LOVE it! Yes it does suffer from phantom braking occasionally (not all the time) and the Autopilot as you described does need improving, but to be honest I only use TACC (Traffic Aware Cruise Control) which you didn't mention and that works VERY well. I'm not sure why people rave about Autopilot so much, I guess I'm old fashioned and much prefer to be in control of the car at all times. If I wanted a car to drive itself I'd hire an UBER LOL.

    I strongly disagree with you on the Model Y’s looks. I think it’s a hot, modern, sleek design. You don’t mention the 2nd storage space in the trunk, directly behind the seats. It’s a little shallow, but is handy for storing smaller items.

    • @robp3431
      @robp3431 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. It's more timeless than most and gives me a Porsche - vibe. Within the Tesla line, I prefer it over the 3 and X. I like the S as well, but for practicality I'll take the Y.

      It looks like a penguin to me, but I still bought one. I don’t mind it, and it’s much more practical to have the rear hatch over a sedan trunk lid. 🤙🏿

    • @ron8186

      Yup. I've had my model y for 6 months and white seats. They do not mark at all and if they start to look dirty just clean them off like new. White is great because it doesn't absorb as much heat in hot climates.

    Around town, the 100% range of the LFP version is virtually the same as the 80% range of the non-LFP version. You generally charge the non-LFP to only 80%. BUT, on a long road trip, it takes very long to charge the last 20% of the LFP battery, just like it does with the non-LFP battery. So to save time on a long trip, you’re gonna end up charging your LFP to only 80% of the range, which is already significantly lower than the non-LFP range. At home you don’t care about the extra time overnight to charge that last 20% on the LFP.

    Sorry but the charging numbers are bogus. My LFP Model Y can charge with up to 177kw and it does indeed charge at 177kw from 1% to 45% on a supercharger before it throttles. So this has nothing to do with Tesla. Maybe your chargers are just crappy...

  • @forgetfulduck
    @forgetfulduck 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I got one, and I'm on the same page with the looks. Not the best, not offensive either. It's okay ~. TACC and autopilot i would only use on freeways. It's just too sensitive and dangerous around urban roads. 1 parked car on the edge of the kerb and it will brake hardcore at the last minute. Same with passing push bikes with more than 2m of space. Other dislike is i think the rear suspension feels harsher than the front. I sat at the back once, and it felt noticeably more brutal than the front seats. There are perks though. Efficiency is good and ability to leave aircon on during heatwaves is awesome.

    • @DawsonMagic7
      @DawsonMagic7 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not as expensive as other EVs and their EV charger network is the best in the world, this Model Y also was the best selling car in the world for 2023 year, over the air updates also means that most recalls are done whilst your car is home, not having to take it to a dealership, completely relaxed approach when you test drive one too, no salesman pressure whatsoever just helpful answers to all your questions made it the easiest car to buy!

    • @alaneric1618
      @alaneric1618 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are also not as expensive as you would think once you consider TCO (total cost of ownership). You don't have anywhere near the same level of mechanical failure and planned obsolescence. The only routine maintenance is air filters and tires. No brake jobs or oil changes needed. In many locations the energy cost to use the car is a fraction of the cost of gas.

  • @mondotv4216
    @mondotv4216 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You don't need a limited slip differential in an EV. You can use torque vectoring to achieve the same thing. The Model Y does have torque vectoring, which is why it's so hard to get the rear end to slide. And if it does, that's a bad day.

      @CarSauce wow thanks! So I'm guessing in the EV9 it's the HDA2 sytem--- on the freeway curves does HDA2 stay centered in the lane? I currently have HDA1 and on more aggressive freeway curves, I have to help with the steering a bit-- thanks again!

  • @mondotv4216
    @mondotv4216 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I think this review kind of misses the point about why the Y is the best selling car in Australia. It's practicality and price. The EV6 might look nice (from the front) but it's frustratingly inefficient. And expensive compared to the Model Y. There's no entry level EV6 - the cheapest is the air at $78,500 on the road in Sydney. And it's kinda ugly from the side. And if you're totally honest you might have technically had more leg room in the rear of the EV6 but your knees were uncomfortably high with no thigh support. Just go back and look at the video. So yeah - there are frustrations with the Y but nothing beats it for practicality and the entry level RWD is a bargain. That's the one most people will buy.

    I've driven in the Seal, Atto 3 and Model Y twice. Taking the MY on a road trip to get that experience too over 4 days. The tech of the Tesla (with EAP package) is what convinced me to go Tesla. I do NOT support Elon's awful Twitter tirades. I do NOT think the speedo should be on that screen with nothing in your front view. I do NOT think their auto-wiper camera based no sensor system works at all. I will NOT buy another Tesla MY if they remove Ultrasonic Sensors and the stalks in the future. Everything else though? The UI, autopilot and TACC, autopark, the interior glazing, even the design, the supercharger system and of course the power.. have me heading for an MY for my first EV.

In the meantime a non linear extremely heavy, energy intensive re-energisation that takes to long to re-energise makes no sense to me at all. Actually I am suspicous of these comments about not cleaning up well. I watched an absolutely filthy Model Y with very dirty white seats that they cleaned on RSEV TH-cam channel, I could not believe how well it cleaned up.

    There's no way I'd even consider buying a car with a glass roof, no sunshade & no sunroof (that opens). And that doesn't have a driver display showing basic info like current speed. Madness.
    You can get the BYD that has those all those things and is $20k LESS and the drive is more comfortable too.

    Efficient maybe, ugly definitely, stupid controls in thr screen, absurd attempts be Elon tight arse to redefine automotive displays and controls.
    No way would I spend money on the current Tesla nonsense.

    Last time I checked, filling my tank up to 100% doesn't accelerate the demise of the engine... What a joke! Looks like an unattractive bar of soap, pretty hideous and totally uninspiring design. The autonomous driving stuff just isn't safe enough yet, come back in 10 years time, cameras alone just don't have enough data gathering capabilities. Actual FSD is just classic Musk vaporware.

      How much money did it cost you to fill your petrol tank to 100%?
      Basically all manufacturers in the US will be converting their EV plug in sockets to utilise Teslas network says a lot about other car companies and what they think of Tesla and their network of charging stations and reliability
      Their FSD system is the most advanced in the world, latest update utilises AI and it’s watching more and more footage from all their cars to perfect FSD even further, competition was meant to be coming 5 years ago from the BIG players…still waiting 😂

      Actually it does, ICE cars on average will have a life of around 250,000 kms.
