You know what, I've heard & read a lot of 'critics' complain about certain bands/albums/songs etc, effectively telling ME (& YOU) what to think/listen to/buy/watch etc. Over the years, I've come to realise that 'critics' have only ONE thing to contribute to 'music' - THEIR opinions (& - as I was once told by a lovely old geezer 'Opinions are like a***holes : everybody's got one'). Those that can, play : those that can't, criticise. Paraphrasing Dave Chandler himself : 'If you think you've got a good song, don't listen to anyone else, just play it'. I think this is one of the GREATEST St Vitus songs & I don't care who knows it. Thanks for posting.
Dave Chandler's guitar solos were so loud and heavy live that they would melt your fillings. He (and the other Vitus guys) were also some of the coolest, nicest guys in all of music. Much appreciation for posting this, it kills.
I saw them on the 'Children of Doom' tour, here in New Orleans in '92....ruled! Eyehategod opened up....Saint Vitus played 'til like 4:30 in the morning - it was fucking GREAT.
Armando Acosta was a great drummer. I remember seeing him play. He took this drum solo that had kind of a rolling stomp to it and never broke rhythm. It was really good. Saint Vitus were supposed to be all doomy, but they would get going and their music would swing and make you happy in a way.
I would like to add just a few more: Candlemass, Count Raven ( Whose old singer is on this album ), Solitude Aeturnus and Reverend Bizarre ( Those I can remember right now )
I'll have to pick up one of their CD's. Love the sludgy riffing and frenetic soloing. it kind of sounds like Kerry King from Slayer playing leads in a stoner rock band.
Dan Fondelius did the vocals in Count Raven's "Destruction of the Void", instead of Christian. Lindersson only sang in their first album "Storm Warning". Lindersson is currently working in the band Lord Vicar, featuring the ex-Reverend Bizarre guitarrist.
Exactly the kind of music that'll I start to do. I have some heavy bass riffs. But the song fear...just love it...at rehearsalss we've played it many times
CHILDREN OF DOOM))) the hell of a great album !!! remembering meeting the guys at geneva concert hall " l' usine " back in 1992 , GUY PINHAS the french bassist guy was roadiing for them , he played with the obsessed , acid king , goatsnakes later on !!!
I love the way he uses the aspect of noise in his solos. It's so tasteful. Wonderful. Sort of reminds me of Dimebag Darrell in a weird way. Definately Hendrix.
@ickeyjoey I'm not Nightcloak, but as a hardcore Vitus fan I felt obliged to answer. Even though all of Saint Vitus' records are excellent, their debut self titled is where it's all at for me: The sheer heaviness, the atmosphere... Scott Reagers (SV's first singer) had an excellent, more operatic(if you will) voice than Wino(who I greatly respect and admire too). In my opinion, it's their best record and even though i have owned it for quite a while, i still listen to it almost daily.
Damn dude some of those later vitus albums got bad reviews but when i ceck out the actual music i find they're great. critics suck sometimes. Doom or be doomed eternally!
I saw these guys last night in Greensboro NC and they rocked. They looked a bit old but then blew the house away. Everyone was into them. Most came for the headline band Helmet. I like St. Vitus better.
@TheSasukelover414 I had the chance to see him play with Vitus several times during the last 20 and so on years. The last time at Roadburn festival in the Netherlands. Will forget not one moment! I got one of the 25 St. Vitus rings at that show that will remind me forever. R.I.P. Armando.
@freethinkerer cool, i'm gonna catch them here in Lubbock Texas next month. Thanks for the heads up. They will be here with Crowbar, I can't wait for that show.
It's "Saint Vitus". Yeah I must admit I found out about them through Phil, although I think it was more from Down than Pantera. Usually you hear Phil and Pepper list all their favorite bands and it's usually awesome doom/sludge metal.
Man, St.Vitus is so badass. Black Sabbath, Witchfinder General, St.Vitus, Pentagram, Reverend Bizzare. Its all good man, fucking awesome stuff and im only 18. Older Doom is great. So's the newer, more extreme stuff mind you. Also, i swear thats a Pantera shirt, bonus points ;P
@panubis This song is quite amazing actually. Megadeth are amazing. But this is Doom, Megadeth is thrash. Two different genres, that you couldn't compare.
Thanks Nightcloak, Im going to get the born to late/thirsty first then go from there. Theres also a live album put out by Southern Lord that looks like a good mix. So I must ask you Nightcloak, as a hardcore fan of Vitus, what is your favorite Vitus CD of all time? It has to be just one. You know the only one you can take to a desert island. What would it be?
@heavymetal148 Official videoclip of Saint Vitus, with Chistian Lindersson at vocals (ex-Count Raven, Terra Firma). This song appears on their "Children Of Doom" album (1992). read the info braaaah
@klee66 same here, dude. where i first heard of dismembered, macabre and disharmonic orchestra. this jam ruled though. wish i can go back to 94 for at least a week and enjoy the simple life again. death, punk and weed. no worries.
@GrindWorm C'mon buddy, Saint Vitus is cool, Slipknot is cool and I see no reason why any metalhead should hate one of these bands. Just because Slipknot have a DJ doesn't mean they make fuckin' rap music.
Well, If you like this, you should try to find some of their following cd / lp / ep some of them are remastered to complications like Born to Late (CD/LP) with "Thistry and Miserable" (EP) together, a must also is their CD/LP "Saint Vitus" and "Hallow's Victim" LP and "Mourful Cries" CD/LP I cant help you much, one of my favorite bands so i will have to write the whole discography... but with Wino singing you will like'm even better imo. I hope I helped ya.
These guys are playing in Hollywood in 2 months in January 2010. Im thinking of going. This song is fucking heavy. I have no recordings of this band. Brothers, I need your help. Can you suggest some Saint Vitus CD's for me. Im mainly a thrash/death metal fan, my favorite being Reign in Blood. Love this slow heavy stuff. I dont think the guy in the video will be singing at the show. It will be Wino. Help me brothers, the show is in 2 months!!! 11/26/2009
My uncle, Armando(drummer of Saint Vitus), passed away on Thanksgiving 2010. I love you, Uncle Mando.
bro, so sorry.
Dude thats awesome that you were related to him. He is truly a Doom metal legend and pioneer.
Your uncle was an absolute legend of the drum kit. He had some unreal feel for doom grooves. He is free now on CLEAR WINDOWPANE!!!
I loved the fact that an LA band had a Mexican playing drums, and I really enjoy his style. Peace be with you friend.
Rip
Armando was a damned good drummer, so underrated. RIP brother. This song kicks ass
Wish i'd know him
He had that kind of lazy, behind the beat style that you either have or you don't. He was a natural and a huge part of the Vitus sound.
Dude was smooth... check out all the difficult fast playing he does in White Stallions and Hallow's Victim!
Mark Outram its the best
Well said Mark! It's very easy to be a critic, creating something, anything is much harder.
Rock critics suck and are usually the most not-rock people out there
Dave Chandler's guitar solos were so loud and heavy live that they would melt your fillings. He (and the other Vitus guys) were also some of the coolest, nicest guys in all of music. Much appreciation for posting this, it kills.

+Jason Pizzolato DAMN!!! EYEHATEGOD + SAINT VITUS! that sounds like sick show!
+DemonAdvance Yeah, it was killer. EHG are friends of mine of over 20 years. They were honored to open up for the great +VITUS+. \m/
+Jason Pizzolato thats awesome! i saw ehg last year, probably best show i have ever seen!
hey, sup, Jason this is your buddy Barg
I saw them on the same tour in Tallahassee in a very small club...Internal Void opened up for them...incredible show! Miss those days!
Usually COD Is the album underrated from Vitus discography, but this Song in Italy It says: SPACCA. Great Singer. Long live Vitus!
oldschool but never oldfashioned! where doom began to grow ...
Armando Acosta was a great drummer. I remember seeing him play. He took this drum solo that had kind of a rolling stomp to it and never broke rhythm. It was really good. Saint Vitus were supposed to be all doomy, but they would get going and their music would swing and make you happy in a way.
Great sound on this, I'm listening on headphones and the bass is going straight into my skull
Saint Vitus and Winter are the best doom bands ever. Their shit gives me goosebumps man...
I would like to add just a few more: Candlemass, Count Raven ( Whose old singer is on this album ), Solitude Aeturnus and Reverend Bizarre ( Those I can remember right now )
R.I.P Mark
Would love to hear Wino on vocals for this song.
R.I.p Tio Armando. Preparing for All Souls’ Day and ran into this video!
He was a gentle giant. Love you & miss you uncle!
Dave Chandler is the Hendrix of doom metal
The bass is so clean and heavy! I love it!!!
I'll have to pick up one of their CD's. Love the sludgy riffing and frenetic soloing. it kind of sounds like Kerry King from Slayer playing leads in a stoner rock band.
man, tha bass kicks ass on this, neighbors love it
I love how deep the bass is on this
Who in their right fucking mind would give this video a thumbs down, this song kills!
I know that, but no worries; maybe some others didn't know. Great taste in music my friend ! Hope to see St. Vitus play again someday soon !
Christus on vocals! Awsome👌

outstanding band & the vocals fit perfect!
Christian linderssons vocals are so fucking good on this album
Exactly the kind of music that'll I start to do. I have some heavy bass riffs. But the song fear...just love it...at rehearsalss we've played it many times
CHILDREN OF DOOM))) the hell of a great album !!! remembering meeting the guys at geneva concert hall " l' usine " back in 1992 , GUY PINHAS the french bassist guy was roadiing for them , he played with the obsessed , acid king , goatsnakes later on !!!

super riff
Seminal band who did a lot to define and raised the bar for what doom metal should be and this track sure proves their salt.
Aaahhh, that BASS is soo deep and nice in this movie
@ickeyjoey I'm not Nightcloak, but as a hardcore Vitus fan I felt obliged to answer. Saw them yesterday live in Stuttgart .
Great gig ,but i also would have liked to hear stuff from the COD area .
t-shirt pantera !!!!!!!!!! ok...
I think Christian Lindersson may not be a Wino or a Reagers, but his nasal voice has its charm.
Crowbar played here with st Vitus. awesome show.
@panubis This song is quite amazing actually. Megadeth are amazing. But this is Doom, Megadeth is thrash. Two different genres, that you couldn't compare.
I love you too, Uncle Mando.
Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan and Gypsy Moth - obscure Hard Rock/Freak Sounds and dark Heavy Metal Off the Killer Groups^^
