    I have a small house with 5 acres of farm land in France, I am surrounded by cow and sheep farms who think I am crazy! My 11 sheep are all orphans who were advertised as freezer lambs, they have about 1.5 acres and the rest I am planting varieties of trees into. I continually use your footage for guidance and inspiration.

    I was shocked... when I heard all this, I guess I wasn’t putting two and two together. I loved the way tu brought your thoughts from the beautiful colors of nature into art and into business and people’s values. I love your property and you’re doing a tremendous work. I’m sorry the world can’t see it that way. But you are doing your part in healing the planet, that’s what really matters and some of us are thankful.

    You are a genius among amateurs Colette. Your relationship with Mother Earth and her children is rare in humanity. If it were 1000 years ago, you'd be a priestess for the Celts. I would only want to learn from you! I'm so happy Sammy is ok so far. It can be emotionally draining when our fur friends fall ill. We want to do so much for them. Jack is sprite in his jumps across the water. Little acrobat. Two of the elements -- fire (sun) and water -- were so wonderful to experience at Bealtaine. Both were soothing, comforting and healing. Looking back on some of the videos I recorded while there, I found over 15 faeries that I didn't see initially. I was delighted! Many blessings to you, Sammy and Jack from me and mine. =)

    A most remarkable discourse from you this morning, I concur with your thoughts on the devaluing of the arts and humanities as a stepping away from natural law and overvaluing of profit making. Thank you for showing me everyday that there is a viable alternate way, by your Bealtaine project. Love time spent in your virtual presence.

      Agree wholeheartedly. There is an agenda to teach a set of rules where open thinking is discouraged. What is annoying is that subjects like sciences of all sorts need people to invent and discover rather than follow certain doctrines or dogmas.

    Toward the end, when you describe whether your neighbors would be inspired by Bealtaine or not, my thought was "Bealtaine vs neighbors is the difference between life and death." You and Mother Earth are growing life and for life, your neighbors are barely sustaining life for death. Mother Earth will always win in the end. You and Sammy have been in my thoughts for days. If wishing someone well works...lots of wishes are coming your way.

    It is a blessing to not be a desired commodity by this current economic model. Or...they would take it away from you like that have done in so many cases...whether it be to use your land to store waste from fracking or to build a nuclear power plant or grow GMO crops...such a blessing to be undesirable to the powers that are trying to kill everything alive on this dear planet. Sorry for the rant but the suffering caused by the current mode of thinking is heartbreaking. Bealtaine Cottage is a sacred refuge. Bless you. I am keeping Sammy in my thoughts. Each time I kiss one of my kitties on the brow, I imagine kissing Sammykins with love and healing.

    I agree totally - the world has gone crazy and people's sense of value is upside down. I have no money but feel rich beyond measure when loads of birds and other wildlife visit my small wild garden, and the frogs come to my frog garden, or like this summer when bumble bees chose to nest in it. That's when I know I'm doing something right for mother earth and it has much more value to me than any financial gain. As long as I can feed and clothe myself and give my dogs what they need, I am content. By the world's standards I'm a bit of a failure, but I'm a happy one!

And very sensible words which the 'world' thinks of as idiocy of notion but is the ultimate truth about where 'we' come from/ belong to and is lost in the current economy. But there are changes happening all over the world, small as they might be, that keep up the hope!

    Thank you for this post, Colette. This video is provoking so many questions for me today. Our state is on fire throughout the summer, once again, because of the lack of rain on our woodlands. Climate change has tipped the point where carbon use and forest growth are no longer compatible here in California. I know that Mother Earth has a scheme and will survive, but it seems to me this will take many generations. Will humans need to form communities away from woodlands while this unfolds and our dry waterless forests once again provide moisture enough for rain? Who decides how to manage the forested areas in our corporate society, where we are encouraged to clear away the brush and not plant too close to our homes. I am not looking for direct answers but just stating our dilemma. Meanwhile I'll continue to plant...as if our lives depend on it and keep the tinder under control.

    • @MarieLaureDelageCarlson
      @MarieLaureDelageCarlson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Irene, are you in California? I am in Sacramento and the smoke is very thick. It's really difficult to breathe. My little plot is heavily planted, I've been here for 13 years and I can tell you that it absolutely makes a difference. I've thought many battles with my neighbors regarding planting in a wild way even in front of the house and not cutting down trees but planting more of them instead. It took many years but a lot of the neighbors are now asking me questions on how I did it and they are doing it too. Just yesterday I prevented a massive spraying of roundup on a construction site just across from me. Just one person can make a difference.

    • @irenethomas4073
      @irenethomas4073 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, I live in Alameda and many people are wearing masks because of the thick smoke. Your yard and efforts to prevent spraying sets a great example for your neighbors. Now they are changing, too. My fairly small backyard is chock full of plantings and pathways, leaves from last year, topped with compost and a fairly large pond made from a clawfoot bathtub. . It has been a joy watching the circle of life right here. We now have many hawks and even horned owls in our neighborhood.. This past year since finding Bealtaine Cottage has made me feel like we are doing something really important.

    Every word you say is true. My hope is that sanity will break through. With the pandemic, I'm seeing people who've been forced to stop the crazy racing. Some respond with rage and fear. Others have started evaluating their lives and started thinking, food gardening, cooking, and picking up handcrafts. Maybe the change won't be permanent for all but even if it's just a few, those who do stay on a different path are adding weight to our side of the scale.

    Your reflection upon the weird and narrow focus of humanity on perceived value of the land struck a further chord for me, on the parallel valuation of the home and family. Mother Earth provides 'home' and 'support' and 'welfare' for the workers on the earth - the trees, insects, microbes, etc. This is not valued and neither are those workers. All that is valued is the produce that humanity decides it wants produced, solely for its own benefit. Our homes and families and what they provide for the human work force is not valued. All that is valued is the produce that the business model decides is to be produced, for the generation of money, by the human workforce. Humanity, the patriarchal system, only values produce and the obvious, front line production worker - not the more vital matriarchal system which supports, cares for, backs up and in essence creates the production line workers in both worlds. Nuts isn't it?

  • @Ladythyme
    @Ladythyme 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is all true and I am in utter agreement as far as what SHOULD be; however I don’t necessarily find it shocking as the fact that You need to pay taxes on something which is undervalued is the exact reason others (and the majority) strive toward the things which are valued to bring value to theirselves. One goes where the water is for oneself. It is a differential of values. Your Land is of value only to those who value environmental wellbeing not economical wellbeing. Hence sadly it is a comparison of apples to oranges. It also isn’t a new progression...this is something that has been progressing for eons. It is merely only coming more to light as the balance is beginning to tip toward the economic side and in order to succeed in that atmosphere it needs to destroy the environmental atmosphere to grow. Unfortunately what the economic side doesn’t realize is that without the environmental side...there will be nothing. The success to all is only in bringing value to the environment .... but as with most tug of wars, it is the Leaders who cannot foresee. Most are only in it for the “Water” and don’t realize the air, earth and fire are equally important. 😔

    It may give you some comfort in knowing that I own, and live on, a redwood property. In fact it's probably as close as one can get, in the US, to living in Ireland as any place in the country. But what I would like to share is that I too have taken a piece of this planet, and removed it from the economic system. I simply will not cut (I hate the term "harvest") the trees. I was furious when the husband of the realtor told me to log it off and subdivide it. I live very much like you, and even think very similarly. I suppose that's why I appreciate your channel. So rest assured that there is at least one place that is transformed into a rational place of beauty.
