Wow the warm tones takes you somewhere dreamy melancholy and joy. I love music that takes you on journeys and landscapes. It becomes and goes beyond music and a song but to memories and visions and feelings of possibly being in utero.
"To Lay Me Down" To lay me down, once more to lay me down with my head in sparklin' clover to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down To be with you, once more, to be with you. With our bodies close together let the world go by, like the clouds a'streamin' to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time, to lay me down to lie with you, once more, to lie with you with our dreams entwined together to wake beside you, my love still sleepin' to tell sweet lies, one last time and say good night to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time, to lay me down, one last time, to lay me down to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down to lay me down
+Mike M. People haven't LISTENED to the Grateful Dead. If you take the time to really LISTEN to the Grateful Dead, then you'll find a pot of gold. Some folks can't be bothered and miss out on all that GOLD....
+Martin Franco couldn't agree more. I play the dead over the stereo in my work, a lot. I can't tell you how often I get compliments from customers on the music who then ask what it is and they often don't believe me, or are in complete disbelief that they're enjoying a dead song. I can't tell you how often I've heard "wow I had no idea they played blues" or "Wow this is really pretty!". One of my customers once responded to hearing the music they liked so much was Grateful Dead with "they don't sound like they're on acid!?".....
Honestly it doesn't sound good unless its loud. I think that's the problem most people have. They don't have it loud enough. They were a live band after all
Beautiful voice he has. To choose this song...it is so attached to Jerry Garcia's voice in my mind (and my life) that to hear it covered by another made me do a double take. And so beautifully, at that!
So far its Bruce -Black Muddy River Courtney - Menglewood, This by you (Genius BTW) and The War on Drugs. All four are AMAZING covers and originals so to speak. Just the way the Dead did that. Morning Dew next,,,I love the unbelievable smooth each band has given to the songs. Structure with the unexpected turns twists and warps of the Jams, Some one please do a Monkey and the Engineer
if I forget about this recording again for a couple of years ...in 10 years time I will hear it again and burst into tears
The kind of song, that reminds me i can't imagine life without music...Thank you...
This is my favorite rendition of this song, and I love the Dead.
Likewise.
This really does sound like a pure blend of their respective styles in the best way
A 4AD moment easily worthy of standing alongside 'This Mortal Coil'. Glorious, absolutely glorious and profoundly beautiful. Well done everybody.
Oh my word. This is so beautiful
Need more Sharon in my life
yeeah

"To Lay Me Down"
To lay me down, once more
to lay me down with my head in sparklin' clover
to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down
To be with you, once more, to be with you.
With our bodies close together
let the world go by, like the clouds a'streamin'
to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down
to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time,
to lay me down
to lie with you, once more, to lie with you
with our dreams entwined together
to wake beside you, my love still sleepin'
to tell sweet lies, one last time and say good night
to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time,
to lay me down, one last time, to lay me down
to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down
to lay me down
This one is soooooooooo amazing!!! The softness of this song kinda reminds me of 'Think You Can Wait'. Mike and Sharon worked so well together!
Exactly my thoughts
For the life of me I will never understand people when they say they don`t like the Grateful Dead but love hearing their covers.

the Grateful Dead were like one big gigantic inside joke. you either got them or you did not and if you did not, you were envious of those who did.
Ha! Yeah....well put.

So many feelings. Love this.
Beautiful and sensitive rendition. Gives us a bit of the feelz. Can't help but hear a little of a "Wild Horses" in the keys...
Good call, def wild horses right there

Mikes voice is amazing in this
To lay me down one last time
RIP JG
this one so nails it, and beyond. not easy to put a new spin on any Dead/Garcia track, but they did it.
