Sup brother. Ever try out traditional archery? I do a lot of shooting and i find theres a cross over with shot command and hand eye coordination between lacrosse and archery. I bet you’d be a natural at bowhunting. The haudenosaunee do call the game the lil brother of war lol. Have a good year
I'm from México, I'm 21 and Lacrosse is literally the only game I've ever wanted to practice, but is not easy to find a place were they really practice it (At least guys of my age) and the equipment is a bit expensive....
Work on strengthening you bottom hand and top hand in isolation by doing reps with only the top hand snapping or only the bottom hand pulling. You want to focus on learning to snap your wrists together at the target similiar to how a quarterback squares their shoulder to throw a football. If you try to keep your hands at about chin to nose height when you shoot it will open your arms up and dramatically increase accuracy once you have the strength to comfortably hold the stick there. Then just focus on the timing of your wrist snap and pulling the stick all the way across your body to the target again like throwing a football or throwing a punch. You should feel like you're pushing your top hand into your target and pulling your bottom hand to your opposite hip, try to keep your bottom hand forearm relatively straight: it helps with power and makes it harder to pull your shots too low. Weight transfer is how you get power. So shifting your weight from your back foot to front foot and then standing up straight on that front foot while swinging your arms into your target. If you do it correctly at full speed you should almost be falling foward and if you shot overhand your stick head would be touching the ground.
Honest question: What's the logic in this critique? It seems like that would just be reliant on wrist strength and dexterity, which (needless to say) Paul has loads of. Always looking to learn here, wanted to ask
@@daricaurte That's a really good question. This is a big subject but the short version is; shot or pass speed comes from a combination of how your whole body loads for movement and your targeted muscle speed and strength. Accuracy comes from technique and how you control the movement of the stick. In this instance because of how fast Paul is trying to throw he still needs good hand positioning to maintain accuracy and a good release point. Especially in game when you're almost never in ideal shooting position. Paul knows more then i ever would about lacrosse but this is what i can see . (listen to golfers talk about their swing, a lot of the same principles apply)
@@daricaurte hah this is like the million dollar question in lacrosse. Your bottom hand pulls and controls the plane of the shot and your top hand snaps/pushes to control where the shot breaks in that plane. The ball always goes in the direction you have the butt end of the stick pointed when you break your shot/ snap your top wrist at the target. If your arms start at near maximum extension, you don't have to push up on the stick with your top or bottom hand to position the stick in space where it can shoot the ball accurately (with less tension) , think about where the butt end is pointed throughout the shooting motion. By cocking his top hand back, Paul is having to pull more with his bottom hand and use more energy in his top wrist to shoot the ball where he wants to. Instead of pushing the stick into the target with his top hand, he's using it to fight gravity. Why would he do this? 1. It's easier to control the stick, especially if it has a lot of whip and you cock your top wrist back, and it sort of allows you to shorten your throwing motion. It may also be a training scar caused by various things. He's made a career shooting the ball high to low on the run from a 3/4 position and that release is much more tolerant of keeping your hands close to your body, in a sense it encourages it. Compare his shooting form to Ryan Brown or Mike Sawyer if you want to see a lot of extension. Hope that made sense.
@@daricaurte More simply, he's learned a timing that he uses to break/snap his top hand over his bottom hand. He keeps shooting and throwing the ball low. He could either get a new stick with new quirks, he could relearn his timing or he could just raise his hands in the air higher so the timing he has throws the ball higher on average. The reason we say it's bad form is because he's shooting the ball short of the goal at times and passing low. He obviously didn't practice to do that so something has changed since he learned the motion and practiced it.
Lets shoot together bro i just moved to LA :)

@@paulrabil 😂 same with our brother team
I tried to make my TH-cam videos as cool as these. I think there should be music with the workouts.

Can someone fix Paul's overhand shot please? He's losing accuracy by keeping his hands so low
Amen. You could see it in his passing last year too. He kept hitting people in the chest. (This is constructive criticism. Love you Paul!)
