Pretty rare to see Australian aboriginal/first-nations folklore represented like this! Gurangach is a crocodile-like creature from dreamtime legend. He made a grand escape from a very tenacious fisherman and lost a piece of his back, but managed to excavate a bunch of caves and waterways in the process with his monstrous burrowing. Not sure why he has red crystals here. Maybe it's to depict the parts of his flesh that were pulled off by the fisherman's diving friends towards the end of the tale.
No, he just wants to become a furry so badly that the app's battle system gave him a rule that lets him transform..... if he consumes stuff like fur or body fluids from the therians.

Might also just be a design trope in Japan. Ophion has those crystals as well and they're both reptillian.
