Why are all awesome Hetalia cosplayers from Sweden?! D: I made a cosplay group a few days ago.. But we all need our cosplay costumes yet.. (I'm being China, my dude friend Samu will be Japan and 2 other girls will be Luka/Miku and someone from Durarara, so mixed lol)
Greetings from Slovakia. Here we are required to start with foreign language in year 1 of Elementary (at my school we could choose between english and german) and study it for 9 years. Then at Highshool we take on second language, which is often the one you didn't choose in Elementary (but some schools offer Spanish, French, Hungarian or even Chinese) and you have to study it for whole highshool curriculum which is mostly 4 years.
In Norway we start with English when we are 7 to we are 17(we can continue). And we have either French, Spanish or German from we are 13 to 16, then we choose a new foreign language or continue with the one we chose.

Yes, Swedish is our first language, but in Sweden we learn English from the age of 10, and through movies and web pages and things like that we learn expressions in English that, if you translate it directly to Swedish, sounds very weird, for example "Bitch, please". Hope you understood xD And we're glad you liked it :D /Onewiinged
I have no clue but I think it should start much, MUCH earlier. However, here in America, schools are very focused on things like math and sports. Unfortunately there is a huge lack in the promotion of the arts, the teaching of foreign cultures, and languages. Also, there simply isn't enough money to pay teachers to teach children in elementary school and most middle schools. In fact not enough teachers in general. The class size in my school on average is between 35-45 kids. :(
I wish i learn other languages. In Texas the main language here to learn is Spanish even though it my own heritage i still wish to learn others ones beside that.
i always wanted to learn a foriegn language, but it was never offered until 8 grade. :( even then i can only pick spanish or french. french is awesome, but i want german or swedish. and they dont teach it!! *mad face* anywho... you guys are amazing! love yoyr prussia! hawt
