The only "problem" with the Danessa palette is that the pans' size is JUST A HAIR different from the ones in her ground work palettes. If had created them the exact same size and we could have combined these stunning shades with neutral mattes, that would have been truly amazing.
I saw a video where someone mixed and matched with the groundworks pans. I assume the mixing can't go both ways? I have one of the older Lightwork palettes and wish those colours came in this new packaging.
@brianne9 The packaging is next level. Being able to buy future mini sets and retro fit the previous collections would have been amazing. More #refillablemakeup please.
I love how you talk about brands. You're so in-depth about the little details. As an artist myself, I appreciate the admiration you show for fellow artists and their work. It just feels deeper, way more personal. Its lovely ❤
Yes totally agree. I also would have included Wayne Goss. I have all of his products and absolutely love everything - lip liner, lipsticks, glosses, face palettes, bronzing palettes, eye shadow palettes, eye liner, brushes (oh my god his brushes!). I have heard that his mascara is amazing. I am very excited for the rebrand! But you are right about Lisa - good lord. She creates a piranha freenzy with every drop. AND her jewelry is incredible. Collectible rings, earrings and charms. Love it all!
Absolutely love the non intro intro, it is my pet peeve when creators spend 3 plus minutes dragging on about what they are going to talk about!! Bravo and thank you for a stand out viewing experience!
Lisa Eldridge brand has become one that i will purchase anything she drops. idk how to describe it but her products make me feel luxurious in a classic beauty old Hollywood type way.
If I could afford $120 from an eye palette I would get the Danessa Myricks one. The colors are awesome and the manageability of traveling with it and the way it comes apart and you can customize it is well worth the $120! At my age and budget it is just not possible for me. Thank you so much for showing all these wonderful products. Love to see a purple/blue look with that eye palette! 💜💙💜
I’ll always buy makeup artist products. They always have the best undertones, formulas, and thought behind their products bc they’ve tried so many different products on so many different skin tones, textures, and ages. I feel like makeup artists and makeup influencers as well just know what is needed in the market too. Loved this video Alex plus you look stunning ❤
I have not tried a single thing from Lisa that I didn’t absolutely love! Her products may seem basic, but they are truly on another level. For me her best product is the skin tint. There is nothing like it out there. It is truly undetectable on the skin even under a magnifying mirror under natural sunlight!
Have you tried the vega pallet? It’s horrible, total waste of money. I have gray powder all over my cheeks tiled by sparkles and glitter under my eyes. I passed it on to my mother who is experiencing the exact same
@@BlowinFreeugh yes, the Vega palette is a disaster. I’m so confused what happened there. They go on like chalk but also have zero to no pigment. I tried many different tools and cannot get that palette to work for me 😞
@@jennistone8740 I’m sorry to hear you haven’t got your moneys worth from this pallet too. I swooned over it for months until I finally treated myself (mostly based on you tuber reviews) isn’t it strange nobody mentions this, they make it sound like the best thing from sliced bread! Makes me doubt their sales pitch even more.
This is a beautiful love letter to the artists who are making makeup exciting and fun and inspiring. Also, my makeup collection is turning into an homage to Danessa, Hindash and Lisa.
I’ve been so impressed with Danessa Myricks, her beauty brand has become my favorite. I’m so happy that I waited for this version of the Lightworks palette 🌈 I’m so pleased with her face/complexion products as well.
SO tempted by that big Danessa palette and would 100% buy .... if I had an equally makeup-obsessed friend I could split it with, bc I would absolutely nevvver wear the strong bright pink/plum/orange/red tones. But I WANT those blues and violets and all the "highlighty" ones! :(
I like this kind of dive into the ethos of a brand, rather than specific products or colours. I would rather spend money with brands that align with my point of view and it can be hard to wade through the nonsense sometimes.
I will be a fan of Sam until the end of time! She’s the most rad person to ever share themselves on the internet and I love her. ALL of her products are fantastic and I believe they always will be because it is just who she is. Love to see people show her the love and respect she deserves! Thank you
Since I tried lipsticks from Lisa E., I cannot use anything else. I have her blush too, but the packaging failed (got full return). I am also planning to make a big order from Auric now that she has launched the first face pallete where I would use up all shades (noone ever has).
This round up is so great....the Danessa palette design is brilliant (and they look GOREG, OMG!). And for recycling, Terra Cycle offers a beauty box for all the empties!
We need more people like this telling us truth! Just finished reading 'The Skin Radiance Recipe' by Mrs. D. Its fascinating what they hide from society.
I get my makeup recommendations from you, especially lipstick. I know once you say a particular shade or color would look beautiful on deeper skin you’re not lying.
Lisa Eldridge is amazing! I recently moved to a new neighborhood in an upscale neighborhood, and my new neighbor was so upset to have a neighbor of color that he vandalized my new home before moving out. He destroyed everything I own, my furniture, my home decor, my clothing, my plants, even dishes, everything including my extensive makeup collection amounting to well over 10k after years of collecting. Everything was mid to high end. He poured acid and oil in every single palette and smooshed everything else. I tried to recoup all of my favorites, but so many things were discontinued, Lisa Eldridge had just discontinued two of her lipsticks and I wasn’t able to repurchase them so I reached out, and they found them and sent them out to me. I was willing to pay anything to get them again. Of course the Myth palette is one of my favorites it was completely gone😢. I can’t find it anywhere and it is discontinued. Thank you Lisa Eldridge! You helped to heal my very broken heart. Also if anyone knows Where I can find the original Bailey Sarian fatally yours palette please reach out to me I will pay price + shipping from anywhere.
@ it’s a very nice neighborhood, in a wealthy part of town, the homes are 2.5 million and above (usually above) which is why he is not in jail. I’ve been working my butt off for over a decade to afford this neighborhood. People can just be wicked and hateful. This man is a California lobbyist.
I just made a big order from Auric to grab their new face palette. The various cream formulas and the reusable compact look intriguing! Would love to see a tutorial from you on it ❤
Hi Alex, thanks for the video! The packaging of the Danessa Myricks palette is really cool and innovative. But I literally wouldn't use even one of these colors - not my aesthetic. Also, $120 for eye shadow..for me that's an immediate no. Others may feel differently; it's their money to spend.
Not sure if it's what was intended, but thank you for doing your research and showing us products that work for everyone, not just younger women! Glad I came across your page.
Have you seen the Esum eye palettes? They have a very similar mix & match pro palette design, though without magnets. Their shadows remind me of Viseart... Just excellent!
Totally love your artistry and enjoy your original content!!! I love neutrals but colors are my heart. I love over the top makeup and your channel has a great mix of both. You seem so cool too and appreciate your energy! HEART YOU CHANNEL!!! 🥰😍💓
Alex, love your makeup look. Stunning sweetie. Love your excitement and respect and admiration you have for these makeup artist and others that Do It Right. I can’t wait to get a couple of Lisa’s lipsticks and ? Her skin tint and or Foundation. The Hindash palettes and Highlighter are absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. What ever it is, it’s going to be stunningly perfection. 😊have a great wkend sweetie.
I must suggest putting another brand into this category - Phytosurgence deserves all the praise. They provide top notch products at such an affordable price point. So accessible and lovely to use. And Jason is always innovating and releasing new formulas and products while being a small business. So impressive.
I got the Danessa Myricks Groundwork Defining Neutrals palette during the Sephora sale and let me just say: Fair olives, run - do NOT walk - to get this.
I COVET that Danessa Myricks palette, but I just don't think I'd get enough use out of it for the dollars spent. If i had unlimited funds, I'd get it in a heartbeat. Wish it wasn't limited edition...would also be nice if there was a more neutral, everyday leaning one with pops of colour...then I'd have a really hard time resisting it
My only problem with Lisa's brand is that all of my bullet lipsticks have broken in half after a few uses, so I'm scared to buy more since they aren't cheap
Glossier Stretch concealer is all jumbled on Mecca in NZ. It's absolutely moronic. How to the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks wear down? Do they leave a stain? I love a lipstick that fades away to a stain. I really want to buy all of Lisa Eldridge's stuff, I've been following/watching her for a decade now. I live in NZ, so it's a big commitment to get it here and hope it's the right shade and a formula that will work without being able to test it...
I’m visually impaired, though it would be nice if every product was accessible for visually impaired people like myself to tell apart with different products and make up or skin care and then every product in the world that we can see and use, which would be nice
KVD jumbles all those skin tones online for their Good Apple liquid foundation, and it drives me nuts. It's already SO hard to figure out a shade match in that product, but to not have any kind of gradient from dark to light or light to dark just doubles down on the problem.
I agree but I disagree with her that it's wrong to go from light to dark. I really don't think it matters what order the colors are in in terms of depth. Going from dark to light or light to dark doesn't prove you care more about someone, it's just not that deep. 😅
Danessa Myricks is an amazing brand and she is is a true artist herself, as you are too, dear Alex. Every time I try to buy DM’s neutral palette, it’s sold out. It’s obviously sought after. I love her eye primer SO much. I am keen to try more of her products. There’s only one retailer here in Australia though.
I loved this video! I love Lisa Eldridge and her products too, but I am hesitant to buy any more lipsticks, even in a new formula. Every single one of the velvet and insanely saturated formula lipsticks I purchased broke. Yes, the company was wonderful and offered to replace them, but that is certainly not sustainable. No way could I bring myself to throw all those lipsticks away! And I didn’t want replacement of the same thing, as I knew they would just break again! This is a widespread issue, so I’m actually quite surprised that they have not fixed it.
I was thinking the same thing regarding Lisa Eldridge recently as I was going through and organizing my makeup drawers - ever since she came out with her makeup it gradually amounted to perhaps around 70% of the makeup I own, she just doesn't miss! 😍 The rest is Huda Beauty which is also stunning!🔥👏 What is your opinion on KJH brand especially those new blushes (I've been dreaming about)? 😍
I hesitate to say this, but Danessa has surpassed Aunty Pat McGrath in the artistry, quality and bang for the buck. If I was gonna splurge, I'd get this palette and Lisa Eldridge's newest lipsticks.
lol now that’s a laugh, these brands offer 2 different experiences just like the two founders. Pat McGrath is light years ahead of Danessa as far is artistry, quality, and both brands are priced appropriately. Saying you would spend almost half a mothership on one lip product is just as ignorant as your comment.
@DownToTheGroundd This opinion is based on my purchases of late, I saved up for the PMG shadow palette, lipstick and mascara. The lipstick was kind of dry and got worse through use. The mascara was amazing. The palette was beautiful, but had a lot of similar colors in it. The Bridgerton Collections were just kinda fine. Pat set the bar stratopherically for other brands. But also for her own.
Neenerella33, With all respect, what you said prior has nothing to do with what you’re saying now. All brands within their brand and their competitors have like colors. Everything in a brand isn’t going suit just your one need and every brand has it’s own cost. As amazing as Danessa’s catalog is diversifying, nothing in her line, Lisa’s line, Hindash’s line, Patrick TA’s, Makeup By Mario’s line, etc, can compete or be equal to a PMG LABS offering. LW 6 will never be a Mothership nor Luminous Legends, and it shouldn’t be, because they offer three different things and speak three different conversations. You can dislike what you want, but to say that “ Danessa has surpassed Aunty Pat McGrath in the artistry, quality and bang for the buck” is extremely disrespectful and false. Danessa has never had a moment in time where the world stopped for her artistry, quality and bang for the buck, never. Dame Pat McGrath however, everytime and that’s a testament to her knowledge in the art of transformation. Put some respect on Dame Pat McGrath’s name, IMMEDIATELY!
Unpopular opinion here - I am epically disappointed in Lisa Eldridge products. Her colours are so lacking nuance - always too pink too peach too orange none of it is fine tuned. I have watched her for ever - yes I’m old. Her releases though have just disappointed me - especially her descriptions of undertone. She often says her colours ‘contain both cool and warm undertones’. Nonsense to describe such basic drugstore colours of pink and peach which are presented as something they are not. I wasted way too much on her products and haven’t liked a single one - not even enough to use them - they all went in the bin. Or were ‘decluttered’ according to some. The others you talk through I love!
I absolutely agree, and the quality it’s just ok for me, it doesn’t wow me or take me on the journey she paints it to be. Just nonsensical jargon wrapped up in 50’s-60’s hype.
Anele can you pleeeaase make a tutorial for the new chanel wintertale look 2024?? 🙏🏼🙏🏼✨✨💜💜⭐️⭐️ maybe an affordable version with different products..?? 😍😍
I love the concept of the Myricks palette yet it is very colourful. Personally I would not get enough use from it. And I do not love the fact that she produces in China. I am into cool neutral tones with a few pops of colour and a big Lisa Eldridge fan so I own Vega, Sorcery and two singles from her latest palette and I am good. I even hit pan on one of the Vega shades and happily repurchased that specific single shadow - what a delight! The possibility to get only one shade which I love. All brands should offer this option. In general I own very few make-up. An Hourglass palette, lipsticks and eyeshadow from Lisa Eldridge, kajals and (the refillable) bronzer from Victoria Beckham. I am Austrian and I am glad that my make-up is produced in Europe. We have quite high standards regarding hygene and animal rights over here and manufacturers have to pay decent money to their workforce. A strong reason for me to pay higher prices for the brands I use.
Agree. I’ve almost purchased this latest palette, but I really only want/would use 30% of it. And I already have a huge makeup collection and have all the motherships and many singles of special shimmers and colors, so don’t need it. Also, I will not purchase cosmetics from China.
I disagree about Lisa…. I feel her conversation about makeup is less modern than she communicates and hardly scratches the surface of a fix or innovation to correct or improve real gaps in the market. Trinket luxury is not modern to me at all. However, I do like her lip products fell, hopefully more shades to come for POC. Danessa however is killing it for me as a consumer in the US! I love her range and approach to one and done. She has mastered the art of longwear technology in multiple mediums. However, the hype about the new LW 6 Pal being magnetic is very dull and redundant. Reorganizing your products has always been a thing, but it’s nice to add into her brand.
My dream is for her to sell extra of these mini magnetic pallets so we can mix in our groundwork neutrals

And of course, Rephr is a super brand imho. Presumably yours too, seeing you did a thing with them 😊
You look beautiful Alex. Ive been mia from TH-cam for a while, when did you start growing out your hair?
I love this.
You are such a Pro ❣️🩵🕊 You will be the next in that lineup🙏🏼 you'll get your props.😊👍 Much love to you😘 🎨
I do not support Sephora so I will look somewhere else for this palette
She has her own website if you prefer to do that!
I don't buy on Sephora because it's too expensive in my country (cuz you know, importation and all that), but what's wrong with them?
They also carry her brand on beautylish
God I love this video. You speak da truth!
Alex, you are absolutely precious!
I wonder is Lisa Eldridge will have a Black Friday sale? ❤❤
Great video. ❤❤❤
I'm 100% with you, these factors are very important to me, too.
There is nothing wrong with products made in China.
❤❤❤ the suggestions!
Love the small intro
I thought about face WAS already affordable. Am I tripping?
I want this palette so bad
In Spain you can not buy in Sephora, You can buy in Maquillalia here 166 euros. I love this palette
its hard to put into words, but the book The Skin Radiance Recipe by Mrs. D transformed my skin literally
Go away marketing campaign coming here to push your book
I really don't like anything I have from Lisa Eldridge. I have bought tons but agree with all of the other products
Miss Ma’am, your makeup here!! Yumza!
