    Thanks so much for this instructive video! 😊 Really excited to try using my L890 for piecing. Just a wonderful machine with every stitch possibility.

    I bought the L890 and it is absolutely AWESOME! For someone who had NO knowledge of serging/overlocking, I was able to learn so much in so little time. Thanks for showing me even more I am able to do with this amazing machine!

    Glad I Googled Pam Mahshie + serger and found this video! Bernina USA just did a live on Facebook with Pam and @Amanda Murphy on a quilt pattern that was developed to show off what the serger can do. I know I'll be making a serger quilt very soon! Thanks for your excellent videos @The Quilt Show!🥰

    I have that Bernina serger. Lucky me! Thanks to you, Alex, and Pam Mashie! I also get a lot of ideas from Gayle Yellen.

      Yes, I was just going to say that, Gail Yellen showed this technique years ago and these people are now just showing it six days ago? They seem to be a little behind.

    For the longarm, I serge the edges of the backing before I load, it keeps the strings from wrapping around the rails, and it gives the side clamps a little more to hold on to.

    I was skeptical at first but with the QAYG you had me at the end.

    Oh by the way, the Serger manual is in the L890 Bernina Serger in motion, so these stitches are all in the computerizaton of the machine, Its is an awesome Bernina Serger! Any one can follow the step by step instructions! Its a fabulous machine!

    Thank you for showcasing how a serger can be used effectively for quilters. My serger is an old Bernette 334DS (made by Juki). It still runs and performs well (but it does not magically thread). For quilt tops that you have finished but not ready to sandwich, a narrow serge to bind the edge will keep fraying in check and seams in tact.

    I never thought of a serger in quilting. Looks amazing. However, the one thing that I think waists a lot of thread is the joining of batting pieces. I'd rather use batting seam tape. Just a thought.

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends on what you are going to use the batting for because I don’t know how that tape will hold with multiple washings. Or maybe if you’re quilting like a dense Quilting it might hold in place.

      Yes there is and I’m surprised they didn’t show it. If you really want to learn this technique search the TH-cam channel called Gail Yellen. I think it’s Gail Patrice designs something like “Serger Tip Clips”

      @@dcwatashi Yes! That is the channel. I’m just a beginner and have learned so much from Gail. You can learn every stitch with her tip clips plus how to use them decoratively. Great instructor for details.
