Awesome that you guys listen to feedback/suggestions. I have and still really enjoy one of your original underquilts....I love the soft pongee interior and sometimes just use it as a blanket.

@OneTigris- The more I use this hammock, the better I like it. I did however make a few modifications.
      1) I replaced the daisy chain suspension with a cinch buckle suspension and it made a HUGE difference in adjustment. I am planning on replacing the cinch buckle with whoopie slings soon.
      2) that ridgeline is terrible. At 5'11" 265lbs there's no way I would trust that line or especially the linelock adjuster under any kind of tension. I replaced the ridgeline with an adjustable amsteel and it made a HUGE difference.
      3) the plastic hooks on the ridgeline had to go. I was worried that the pointed ends would eventually rub a hole in the mesh. Replaced with several prussik loops with hooks (robbed from the Onewind clothesline). I added a couple of continous loops as oversized prussiks to give me something to grab and pull myself up.
      4) added shock cord pullstrings to both the winter cover (side to side) and outside zipper (head to foot) to make it easier getting zipped up. Works great!
These modifications have made it much more enjoyable for me. Now for my wishlist....
Remake this as an 11' hammock. Its just a little too short for most people's comfort, especially us picky Americans. You make this hammock 11' and I will buy one the day it gets released. Unfortunately I will soon be abandoning this hammock in favor of an 11'er. I will probably pass this down to my grandson.
Even if the bugnet is not removeable, add a zipper to the other side.
The bag is big enough to stuff the hammock and suspension, as well as my Pomoly G2 table (minus the pole), I'd still like to see the bag a little bigger. (I've been knocking around the idea of making a haversack for this setup with a tarp).
This has been a fun little hammock to play around with. Make it longer and it will be a keeper.

What is the better dimension wise? like a wider one. I can hack such a thing or even build one for you. What I hate to design from scratch. haha

...Oh, and the new winter WIDE tarps from Dutchware Gear would also be awesome to see in a review :D

What about the under quilt? How does it work and what do u think about it?

As I mentioned to another commenter, the UQ is adequate but nothing spectacular. It copies the early designs of the ENO synthetic quilts. The main issue is that the quilt is tapered or shaped, which means it has limited utility for other hammocks because the hang angle it set and that means air gaps if your hammock isn't matched perfectly.

Mate I was houseless in the UK and this underquilt was a great investment well stitched easy to apply in the dark with cold hands easy to put away ect I don't know how these guys make and sell them for the price they do ,I really don't , if u couple this with there sleeping u will be nicely surprised at what temp u will be able to go too and be happy

    What about the underquilt?

I just replied to Palangi who had a similar question. I don't have much to add beyond that. It's a marginal design that does not offer the best results for diagonal lay.

Nice review! I think that zip up membrane is an awesome idea. Way better than pulling the sides over to block the sun. Will you be doing the under quilt in a different video?

I don't have plans to do much more with the under quilt beyond what I have done. It is a a knock-off of the ENO Ember quilt. The synthetic insulation works great down to 30 F, depending on several factors. The main challenge is the shape. Those pre-cut / formed under quilts work best when the hammock matches the shape of the quilt, not the other way around. This means that getting a tight seal and wrap around your hammock can be a challenge, which can lead to cold spots as the temperature drops outside. This type of design is not ideal for diagonal lay sleeping. Good price, marginal design.

Derek Hansen that makes sense. I saw that under quilt on Amazon and have been wondering how it would perform. Wasn’t sure if I should spend the money to find out, even at that price point. Haha thanks!!

Actually, being shorter than you, this might be the perfect length for me! I have wanted a similar system... Or to find a perfect hammock sleeping bag... But this one might be close to perfect for me!

Hi Derek, any chance you could get in touch with Matthew of EasyHammock, here in the UK?
I (and I'm sure many others) would love to see a review of his 'flagship' HIKER insulated hammock.
I was actually surprised to not see his company listed on your site or ver. 2 of your book? (just bought it and loving it!)
Either way, I think he's got a great looking solution, and deserves the exposure :)
    All the best!

There's a cottage vendor here in Ohio called Autumn Ultralight that makes a ridgeline organizer/stuff sack.

Hammock Length 260cm? simply too short for any comfort.
