- Russian forces have reportedly struck French mercenaries in Ukraine after the Foreign Ministry warned that Emmanuel Macron may send 1,500 troops to help Kyiv fight in April. The alleged strike took place in Ukraine's Slovyansk over the weekend. Sputnik reported that the first batch of 100 fighters from the French Foreign Legion are in Ukraine and they mostly consist of specialists in artillery reconnaissance. It came as Russia continued to pierce Ukraine's defence in the Donetsk region. Watch for more details.

The French have no idea what they’re getting themselves into. Fighting this war is not like Africa, Afghanistan and Iraq. In this war, given there is no Ukrainian air superiority, the French will be subjected to non-stop artillery shelling, FAB bombs, TOS, rockets etc. What makes the Russians so lethal is their non-stop grinding of the opposition. It’s not that the French are not capable fighters, it’s just that they, in my humble opinion, don’t have nearly enough supporting assets to counter Russians relentless onslaught. That, coupled with the fact that if they’re caught they will be treated as mercenaries and probably killed on the spot, further accentuates the cauldron they will be facing. At the end of the day we will know what French fries will really look like after exposure to TOS munitions.

Electricity is the only way they can do this.

Then it tries to influence Ukraine and gain hegemony there because it has around 15 pipelines going through it.
Russia reacts so they have an excuse to blow up the nordstream pipeline - forcing Germany to buy more expensive US gas etc

I think alot of people in the comments are forgetting what the Foreign Legion is they are recruited from foreigin countries so that French citizens don't have to fight in unpopular wars. From the beginning in the colonial era until France lost the last of it's colonies until now the have they have in fact mercenaries who fight in the employ of the French government. They are are not fighting for France but so that French blood does not have to be spilled in the governments dirty little wars. The Mexican adventure of Napoleon the Third, Indochina, and Algeria just to name a few.
