Before any more stupid joins the comments Peter has traditionally, for about 100 years been played by a woman. You know like how in Hairspray Edna Turnblad is played by a man. I can only think of 1 film version of the traditional story that had a boy Peter. And, that was because the romance between Wendy and Peter was heavil highlighted. I guess the studio didn't want to have two young teen girls kiss on screen. There may well be other versions featuring a male Pan but I have really only seen the girl ones.
Idk why, but Allison Williams and Christopher Walken didn't seem to fit in these roles for me. They both performed pretty well, and I can appreciate the different direction they went in. Maybe it's just because I've watched the 1960 version 100+ times. Mary Martin and Cyril Ritchard are tough acts to follow.
I grew up with this version of Peter Pan. It showed me that i am able to play Peter Pan even though I am a girl. Allison Williams has such a big influence on me.
Why is Peter Pan always played by a woman and why is the father in Captain Hook always played by the same person? The castration of the father by the mother??? But what about Peter Pan? Why are you woman?
So if they want to muck about with the characters, why didn't they go the whole hog and also cast Wendy as a man? PS Wasn't Neverland supposed to be for lost boys?
Not sure why your panties are in a bunch, but Peter Pan has always been traditionally cast with a woman on stage. You might not have heard of Sandy Duncan, Mary Martin, Mia Farrow, Cathy Rigby, etc. Sandy Duncan also played Pinocchio if you want another one to complain about.
Peter is traditionally played by a woman! Nina Boucicault played him in the first stage production in 1904, and the tradition continues in pantomimes in the UK especially. I think it’s to do with him being young and slight, as well as the higher voice. That why female voice actors play young boys too (Bart Simpson for example)
Previous revivals of Peter Pan starred Sandy Duncan, gymnast Cathy Rigby, and Mia Farrow all as Peter. The original production was shown on TV in the 1960’s starring Mary Martin as Peter.
Christopher Walken as Hook... what a time to be alive. :D
I’m a Cathy Rigby fan myself, but they did a great job with this! My high school also did Peter Pan like 15 years ago and it was phenomenal!
5:19 7:56 11:36 Christian Borle and his arms!!! 😍
Сильно 💪👍🔥 Я, вообще не знаю английского языка, но я, в восторге! Это шедевр! 😊
I saw the same musical on Broadway with Mary Martin! Back in the 50s
I Was In The Harkaway Primary School Production Version Of Peter Pan I Was Jolly Rodger.
So so much better than the current touring show.
Peter pan flying ✨️

Great musical !
Christopher Walken as Hook resembles Tim Curry’s take on Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island 😂
She was with Adele I think in her dream saw her before

It is! Thank you!@@KarahKat
wait, Peter Pan was a girl??
ever hear of Mary Martin? (Peter Pan 1954), it is a rather androgynous part

Historically Peter has nearly always been played by a woman you muppet
Didn’t you say you saw the original with Mary Martin?
But, in this case, Mr. Darling and Smee were played by the same actor. WTF?
So if they want to muck about with the characters, why didn't they go the whole hog and also cast Wendy as a man?

Transgender Peter Pan 😬
DISSAPOINTING THAT PETER IS PLAYED BY A WOMAN...
Meh. Peter Pan is a kid, the higher pitch voice fits well.
Also, why use caps?

Are you serious? Peter pan is supposed to be played by a woman!

Peter being played by a woman is tradition.
