It might be the way your flags are weighted! I know there are some I just CANT get more than 2.75 on no matter what I do, and others that I can get 3 or sometimes even more.

Thank you! So long as the top bolt is at least twice as long as the bottom bolt it should work. There are a lot of factors though: with mine I use 3 inches in top and 1.5 in bottom but the silk has a lot of seams in it so there’s a lot of drag. The more drag there is, the heavier the top bolt needs to be to fight it.
It depends on the flag but you should try to make your practice flags as close to the real thing as possible. It's hard when you have flags with a lot of seams in them or are dyed with a thick ink.

Can you suggest any videos (of yours or others you have watched) to nail basic spins and proper hand placement. I've seen a few videos say different things and since you're flawless, i would like you to direct me in the right direction
Well different teams consider different spins to be their “basic” spin. I would recommend looking up our video on drop spins first. There are several teams that use push spins as well so we’ve done a video on that too, but they seem to be falling out of style.
Try rolling the silk up about 75% then tossing. The silk should unroll in mid air and eventually doing a triple because it's the weight of the pole doing the work.
For our marching band show, we have a part where the whole guard is in a line, and there's a ripple which at the end leads into me doing a single I wanna surprise my coach one day and pull off a double or a triple

In all due respect I completely disagree on how it takes that much strength, my second month of my first marching season as a freshman in high school as I got a triple consistent. My advise for a triple is learn a cone single, then double, after mastering both of those THEN attempt a triple.
Males are often (not always, but statistically more often) able to learn skills that take strength more quickly and easily than females. I’ve had some students able to achieve triples in their first season and others who take 3-4 years. It all depends on how strong (and of course determined!) you are when you start. Check out our video of Spinthusiasts tossing triples, they are all different levels of skill!!
Wow I live in Missouri too I see your shirt lol I’m captain of my team and we are kinda just wining everything we only have the band director and he isn’t trained in flags
Oh that one is easy! Just put your second silk on the pole and fan fold it, then put the first silk on the pole over top of it. You might need your first silk sleeve to be a little bigger than the second one, but it's an easy trick. :)

We actually have an audition tips video, but overall: show that you are a hard worker, practice practice practice, listen to the instructors and make corrections accordingly, have fun and keep that smile shining!

Personally i tried to do a triple on flag and i learned it is much easier if you grab about 2/3 into the silk, do the cut across, and release.
It still depends on how your flag is weighted.
I got to the 2.5 part of it but somehow can't get any more strength into it right now.

Show flags feel so much different than actual flags.

It's still not enough. I can do it with a flag that's super top heavy, but these winter guard poles are only 3 inch/1.5 inch.

How do you weight yours? My school uses a single carriage bolt in the top by the silk and that is it
We have bolts in both ends, the top is twice the length of the bottom.
If I remember correctly ours are 3" and 1.5"
