Last one however, butt pain kicked in after about 50 minutes and I was stuck in traffic for another 20 before I could pull over. Hi Ian I’ve just purchased the Deluxe and took your advice on the seat,I have to say it’s like a different bike with the sundowner seat, very nice, I’ve also had the cruise control fitted also short shots, I would have got the same pipes as yours but didn’t know about them until I watched your video (bugger) anyway I’m enjoying the bike, I’ve also got the Sport Glide back in the UK which is also a nice ride but I’ll definitely change the seat on that too when I go back home. Just to add to my below post, my old Harley Road King had the Sundowner Seat which I travelled 80,000 kms over ten years. The seat is still super comfortable, along with excellent lower back support from the Sundowner. I'm ordering one for my Deluxe for sure.

What a beatiful sound from those aftermarket mufflers, I´ve seen several of your videos and they are very helpful, like the heigth of the windscreens, I¨m about an inch taller than you and would buy the 18 inch, I´m seriously considering buying the Deluxe model, it´s the most beatiful bike I´ve ever seen. Hi again so I purchased the bike, also the windscreen, cruise control, engine guards and just this week my Sundowner seat and yes, just like you said it´s a better seat. The Bassanis sound is tops, hope I can get them soon. But just like mine is now I don´t want to get off my bike. Happy riding.

Hi Ian, within two weeks I'll have the last Deluxe in the Netherlands and Belgium. A pity that HD stops the production of such a classic bike… I'm 6"4 and have already bought a kit with which the floorboards are moved 1" outward and 1,5" forward. I also bought extended shifter levers. In your review you say that the seat is softer but not higher and that you sit more into the saddle. My question: does the seat move you more forward that the original saddle? If that's the case it would decrease the extra room I'll create for my long legs and the saddle is not a good choice. Thx!
Congratulations on the Deluxe. I've looked at both seats side by side. I'm only 5' 7" and didn't notice any movement forward. But, looking at it closely there is a chance it could move you forward slightly. It would be a shame to undo what you have achieved with the extensions. I would stick with the stock seat in your case just to be safe.

Thanks for putting this review up. I have a 2018 Hertage and the stock seat is a pain in the butt after about an hour. You've had the sundowner seat for a while now. Got any update on how you are going with it?
With the stock seat I was OK for about an hour. With this seat I go double and then stop for fuel. Some Harley Dealers have loan seats for a small fee to try out. Check out some dealers in your area and let me know what you think. Ride safe.
@@LS1Cobra I think you'll be happy with it. The spare parts guy at my local HD dealer recommended the seat. He said he had tried a lot of seats on his Dyna and this was the best. I don't even think of the seat when I'm riding, so that has to be a good sign.
@@iansouthoz New seat arrved today. Fitted it up this evening. Feels more supportive than the stock seat. You seem to sit rght down in it. Nice little black HD shield badge in the corner ties it in with the black HD badges on the saddle bags. Sadly it's 70% chance of rain tomorrow so I probably wont get out for a ride till monday or tuesday.
They will loose the business if they do it..that's a secret part in a successful business and all the games will show after the sales not before..cheers
I'm concerned that this seat will raise the ride height which I really do not want. BTW, love your color combo, watched previous videos so thank you. My 2018 Deluxe is all black like all of my cars!
I didn't notice any difference based on me looking over the windscreen height. If your struggling to just touch the ground the extra width could make it more difficult. My Deluxe is so low I didn't notice any difference. RSMF thanks for watching.

Hello, your review is awesome. I am planning to add a sundowner Pillion seat on my stock Deluxe 2019 motorcycle as this seat is 11.25 inches wide rather than touring passenger seat which is 9.75 inches wide. My question is, I have the stock rider seat and my local dealer says he can't fit this sundowner Pillion seat if I have stock rider seat. He is suggesting me to change my rider seat to sundowner as well which I am not too keen. Can you clarify?
Hey mate - how do you rate it for relieving pressure on your tailbone? I’m riding the Heritage Classic with a stock seat and my tailbone gets sort avert 15 mins or so. I’ve read the Sundowner Solo is better sculpted for tailbone pressure relief, but what do you find?
I was getting a sore tail bone after about 30 minutes. I had an operation many years ago to cut out an in grown hair that had gone septic. I can't recall the correct medical name but it rendered me unable to sit for many weeks. The scar tissue effects me to this day and becomes uncomfortable quicker than normal. The Sundowner seat has at least doubled my level of comfort in regards to my tailbone. It works for me and I don't regret the purchase. I hope this helps. RSMF.
The seat might be a little thicker at the rear as you pointed out ... it wouldn't help me out as my ass sits in the seat rather than up on the rear outer edge. if there is more depth in the actual seating portion then the seating height has then also been increased and that's not much good to me as i like the low seating position that the bike offers. I think the original seat works perfectly, i sit on my bike for average of 6 hours per day ... nothing wrong with mine as it is. But im average shaped, if i had an ass like a Wally Walrus then perhaps i would need a seat with a wider range to support.
Thanks for the comment. I'm on the heavy side so it suits me. In my younger days I rode my Sporty 6 hours easy but then I was a lot lighter than I am now (25kg). If the seat feels good how it is then definitely don't waste your money. This is the first seat I've changed on my Harley's. I think what made it feel on the hard side was when I got of the Ultra and jumped on the Deluxe. I probably need to toughen up lol!
Well I'm a tall man but not a big man and I have a 2019 deluxe and my factory seat after a few hours hurt my ass may be because it isnt broken in yet and I find my self sitting almost on my dam fender

Dont you think if you pay $30k for a Harley they should be putting that quality seat on it from the start ... i hate paying the Harley tax
