Sometimes, it's necessary to highlight a particular menu item. You can distinguish a menu by altering the color of the background or text associated with it, these changes can be made using custom CSS. To customize the menu, you must add a CSS class to the menu. The following steps are necessary to add a CSS class to the menu and highlight it using a custom CSS. From the WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance Menus. Click on the Screen Options menu and select the CSS Classes option. Click on the option that needs to be selected.
Add a CSS class to the menu item and save the changes to the menu.
