As someone with autism who used to struggle a lot as a child with meltdowns, I love that you understand the difference and that it's not his fault. Even at the age of 19 it still happens to me, its like the whole world has gone upside down and theres no way to stop it. I also love that you see that punishing andy isnt the right thing to do, if you were to take more away from him it would make things 100x worse because the concept of consequences can be skewed when you're still very 'out of sync' as ive always referred to it.

This is a perfect video for all those people who think children grow out of autism and things get easier...they don't...they just get different!!!!!! you never really “grow out of it” as you have it for life but In some situations it can get easier with age like I have asd and when I younger, pre diagnosis and a short while after my diagnosis I used to have daily meltdowns and as I got older the meltdowns became less and now I have one every few months

As a parent of a son with Autism, truly my heart just feels for you. Sending you positivity and the kindest thoughts. I know these situations are heartbreaking and absolutely complicated. The recap was perfectly explained and you need to first give yourselves as parents the credit for always doing your upmost despite the difficulties. Please be kind to yourselves... tomorrow is another day. I know upon reflecting the what’s the why and the how’s you will be thinking of everything possible to support Andy and you all to be able to enjoy outings again another day. Frankly a meltdown based on transitions, rule changing, lack of understanding why and being sensory completely overwhelmed is not always is extremely difficult to say the absolute least, nor are the even able to always be predicted, nor the outcome and how to overcome them but time, love and care to the best as a parent we can. You all did absolutely the best under the circumstances... so please keep your heads high and just know there are many of us who get it and think you are both wonderful parents. 🌟

Yeah, the poor lad can’t help it. Tantrums are what spoilt kids throw when they don’t get their way.

Im dreading when he gets bigger. And its deffo not a bad thing that you gave him a camera replacement. Its what he needs to cope then by all means give him what he needs to cope. It was deffo a meltdown and not a tantrum (bad behaviour) because he broke/hurt something that meant a lot to him. So he wasnt trying to gain anything from it as it was his things that broke. (This part wasnt for you kev. Was for others in case they didnt understand lol). As autism parents i think we all understand and appreciate what you are saying. Btw. Love the vids. To be fair it’s ridiculous and pedantic ruling. A camera phone is ok... but a camera not. It’s merely the cannot possibly police phone recording so easily. If whatever device can record... then simply device can record. If that is what the want to stop us the recording it’s actually literally impossible. I personally think these rules may be their for some sense, but seriously not allowing a kid to film digital display boards is just completely nonsensical. No Thanks to security guard number one, for
misinformed advice! Do the security guards just individually make up these rules and follow them as they at their will? Surely not if they are indeed actually implementing and adhering to the NO filming in the O2 protocol. It’s sad that they could not realise the challenges Andy overcomes every, give him strict rules and let the kid film even with their distanced supervision. Guessing that’s way too novel of an idea and caring.
An inexpensive camera phone maybe a way forward for situations such as these. Of course then you have associated costs and that’s so far from ideal. Given costs associated with living with a disability already exist.
May it be fun and long live Andy Go Pro.

It's lovely how you support each other. I'm pretty new to your channel but it is clear that Andy is very loved and well cared for. His behaviour most of the time is really good in my opinion and a real credit to you both. I also have a son with autism & LD (10yrs old) and it is a fine line we walk when trying not to give in to their every demand! We had a bad day today so your video made me feel less alone. For any new autism parents, don't panic, my son's bad days are less often, the older he gets! I hope you managed to enjoy the rest of your holiday. I dont think its pencil pushing idiots that are entirely to blame. I think the majority of the blame has to lie with these security guards in places like O2. Give some of them a uniform then they think they're invincible. I'm also disabled though mine is physical and I've had that kind of treatment from security guards in supermarkets and similar establishments all my life. I've even had it by the police. There needs to be much better disability awareness training given to people like this.

We took my twins to Poole a couple weeks ago, was a similar nightmare for 5 days , both boys have ASD and all the change just created meltdowns and stress , I know how you all feel 😟

One city of recommendation for you guys especially andy is Amsterdam because it is confirmed that they are building a euro star to it and cheap flights also not to far for Andy and lots of trains, trams, canals and boat rides and every time you go to Lego land he loves the Holland windmills that they have just outside of Amsterdam.

Hugs to you all. The O2 should have a hub for special needs to go to. Camera rules should be adequately displayed before entrance and explained on website. Security guards need training to understand the rules and autism. Im worried about my sons meltdowns as he ages. Getting bigger and stronger, i will get hurt. For me it never easy to decide how to handle a meltdown using consequences before something is detroyed beyond repair. Love you guys!

I was be going to Gran Canis with my granny back in August as part of my 21st birthday but due to the pandemic restrictions we didn't go because we didn't want to take the risk. So we ended up booking a five day bus tour to Scarborough, England instead. I got food prisoning with the food I ate at the hotel on the first night which the food was unateable. What tier of restrictions you guys are in right now? because I'm in tier 3 with the roughest restrictions and I live in North Lanarkshire, Scotland :)

I feel for u both, i have 3 and half year old little girl who was diagnosed 6 months ago, she is non verbal and has limited understanding, we r only seem to be having meltdowns when tired which she is then inconsolable, so different type of meltdown at moment , i hope i have the same level as patience as u guys in future if the type of meltdown changes 💗

That’s outrageous! It’s not clear on their website either as it says you’re allowed small cameras.

Poor lad. Both great parents though, must be frustrating for both of you that the O2 staff weren’t trained in anyway to deal with meltdowns.

I’m so sorry that Andy’s trip has not gone according to plan. I hope that you can still enjoy yourselves.
The O2 has cancelled the use of cameras due to it being an event area which is annoying. I know because my partner had his camera confiscated while filming a day out for his birthday. However that was in the event area itself but I suppose with live events being cancelled, they have to extend the strictness due to privacy. I hope you do enjoy Legoland and enjoy London.

💔😞 Poor Andy. What is wrong with this world🤯. It’s not just Autism that Authorities need training on, its mental health, race relations. This pandemic is ruining EVERYTHING . 🙌 It’s hard, but it’s good to hear you say it’s not his fault ❤️ Sometimes Mcdonald’s helps the situation... a little😄
