    Thank you very much to you both!🙏👍👏 I became so happy to see these beauties🌞. Driving a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley is necessary, living a life not. Yet, driving a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley is a life. And not out of reach of regular nobody, a Rolls that is put on sale and shown in this video cost around 6000 e.

    At 5.25 it's a Silver Ghost, that happens to have been named The Silver Dawn. It is not a Silver Dawn! The engine has 6 cylinders, not 12.
    The RR was changed to black as an aesthetic change, nothing to do with Royce's death.

    Horizontal radiator slats on the 20 horsepower R-Rs from the 1920’s.
    Actress and model Eleanor Thornton (1880-1915) is the model for the Spirit of Ecstasy. Thanks for posting!

      Not all RR 20 hp cars were factory-fitted with horizontal radiator shutters/slats. In 1928, nearing the end of the model's production (which began in 1922), vertical shutters were fitted commencing with the GFN chassis series. Horizontal radiator shutters were also a feature of the American-built (Springfield, Massachusetts) Silver Ghosts from 1922 to 1925, as seen on the car at 1:00:11 (and elsewhere). From 1926 to 1927 Springfield SGs had vertical shutters, before the model was superseded at Springfield by the Phantom I in 1927.

      The Springfield Silver Ghost (reg. no. BS 9126) is also seen to good effect from 3:11.

    I did a double-take at the straight 12. 😮

    • @rtman29
      @rtman29 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What, the "straight 12" that is actually a straight-6, on the 1908 Silver Ghost (reg. no. R-562) that was NICKNAMED 'Silver Dawn' (not its official type name)? Rolls-Royce never built a straight-12 engine. Only the V-12 for the Phantom III.

      Twelve spark plugs does not 'equate' to 12 cylinders. The six-cylinder 40/50 hp engine has TWO independent ignition systems, with one plug for each system. One system is high-tension utilising trembler coil and accumulators (batteries) coupled to coil and commutator; the other system is high-tension magneto driven through gears from the crankshaft.

    Every car after the Silver Clouds doesn't have the true Rolls-Royce style and image.

    The badge went from red to black because American customers thought the red enamel resembled the unpopular communist hammer and sickle badge, all of the AJS & AMS chassis Phantom 2s were sold with black badges from 1931, two years before Henry Royce had any thoughts about dying.

    Some of them had some expensive knocks coming from the engines.
    Suggest swapping the V8 with a Mondeo mk5 2.0l diesel 🤣
    They have a myriad of fan belts that get old and squeak.
    Thanks for posting Al

    watching this convinces me even more that Packards were the greatest cars ever built. On styling alone, this applies. I have never seen an ugly Packard but many of these things are downright ugly. Tha modern ones basically look like everything else on the road and among the oldies, many are also ugly; boxy, dated , ungracious styling.
