I'm currently enjoying the show all over again on UKTV channel,Drama.loved it when it was originally aired, and still love it now. the theme tune is very catchy too... keep humming it to myself when I've watched it😊

One of the our best comedies along with a few others. They don't make 'em like this anymore. Those days are gone. So glad we can get it on you tube.

My dad used to watch this show religiously. I was only about /6 at the time and it never appealed to me, I was way into ThunderCats and HeMan at the time but I always loved this theme tune, its so catchy and chirpy

I love this theme, which I believe is catchy beyond belief.

All I can remember about the show there was a tarty one and the chicken on the table, must get round to watching a few episodes..

What we hear in 'Billy's' line: An actor so nervous he's psyching himself out. Despite all the "you'll be fines" and "it's just one lines", everyone, especially 'Billy', knows he can't sing. But he has to do it, it's the gimmick of the theme.
I don't know how many takes they did, it doesn't really matter. Clearly the one we hear was his best effort, fear so obvious in his voice he can barely make it to "losing card" before it deserts him altogether. Rather than punch up the volume, the producer decided to pan. I've not heard the theme for 30 years, but remember it well.

There's a box set with all 8 series available for less than £20 on Amazon. As I post this it's £17.50!
Finally - it's taken them 13-14 years to release Seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Great sitcom from the 80's. I liked it better when Gilly Coman was Aveline and the original "greetings" Joey was in it (sorry, I've forgotten the actors name!). Kenneth Waller was funny as Grandad "Where"s me puddinnnn?" And when Nellie told Freddie to go and recharge his hair, I'll always remember that!
Peter howitt is the original actor. He was also the greater of Johnny English
Us Finns were talking about how this show was translated as "The Family is Bonkers". ("All in the Family" was "The Family is the Worst" and "Family Ties" was "The Family is the Best", for reference...)
