He did an interview Stern talking about the demons in his head that would come after him especially when he was on a bus or a plane - pretty dark stuff actually. He was truly a tortured soul.
He was stabbed on a bus one time, whether that was before or after the voices I don't know. I wonder if the voices got worse if he was stressed out, such as being on a bus after that traumatic event.
It does. It's the best ideas of Extreme Metal,New Wave, and Punk combined. The yelled vocals of oi with that on edge atonality of Extreme metal but still keeping the melody of a band like devo. As much as Williams stage persona was based around whooping Batemans ass or his chronic schizophrenia I think he had a lot deeper social themes too,as much if not moreso than a band like crass. Wesely knew what his fans wanted and ultimately gave them his absolute best. He's a legend for all that alone.
@@ReinKayomiHow? Wesley Willis was a genuinely good artist. If you look at his work he has good use of perspective. They were made quickly with cheap materials, but he clearly honed his craft over decades. Chris Chan on the other hand doesn't have any noteworthy skills above the average middle schooler.
Damn I’m sad I didn’t find this amazing man sooner and absogodamnlutely he is a cure for depression they need to blast his music to the world I didn’t laugh or shrug his work off as humor I came quickly to understand he was just a man freeing what was on the inside to tame his demons
This has to be one of his many great bus joyride songs. In my opinion, it's second only to "Get On The City Bus", for its crazy and dark plot twist at the end.
Loooool this seems like something he would write “I went down to the corner store.” “I was wearing a bomber vest.” “I saw some guy there and tackled the hell out of him.”
Bearing his soul right here. Wesley, you still make people laugh, cry and most importantly think. Thank you.
I am so glad so many people think that about Wesley too. Warms my heart!
stay off the Hell City busses
This is one of Wes’ sadder tunes, man. He’s *directly* addressing the negative voices in his head here
“Torment me so i will not ride around having fun again”
Long love WW. He just wanted to ride the bus bullshit free like the rest of us.
Sheepy sheeperkins
Bus drivers are all evil spies. They all perpetuate living hell for us for their own twisted pleasure.

He did have schizophrenia, so that tracks unfortunately

The animal sounds, in the middle section.
This is one of his more clever tracks musically.
This goes pretty hard.

Highly experimental period for Wesley. Still at the root, he's singing about what he knows. That is always the key.
his drawings are remarkable
11/10 RIP to the legend WESLEY WILLIS ALL CAPS
Reminds me of Chris-chan's drawings lol

Apparently he drew all of his drawings from memory, thats pretty crazy considering the attention to detail and accurate proportions.
Imagine hearing this song on the radio with no context.
imagine being on a city bus and a dude just starts yelling (happens literally once a week if youre a public transport peon)
Miss you big guy. All love.
Wesley Willis is the cure for depression

Love all his art so much.
He has an impressive eye for detail, and the colours are always so bright and vibrant.

I appreciate him so much as just another anyone who suffers sometimes and wants my rides to be joyful
And fuck those schizophrenia demons away forever
I have had problems on public transportation as well
Had a dream where Wesley Willis wore a bomber vest to a corner store and tackled me. Reminded me of this song.
Good thing you weren't spiderman or batman, he would have wupped your ass
That sounds about right.
Laughing so fucking hard my cough is acting up Jesus Christ man
That was him actually. He ascended to time/dreamlord affecting the collective consciousness' creativity. Or so I like to believe.

“I went down to the corner store.”
“I was wearing a bomber vest.”
“I saw some guy there and tackled the hell out of him.”
stay off the hell city buses
damn, they just dont write 'em like that anymore !!!!!!!
probably some of his most relatable lyrics
The Dude Ain't Lying 👍
Wesley is on point with this one. City buses, i love em, but stay of the hell ones.
Make me give city bus drivers a hardtime hellride.
Something really bad must've happened to him on a CTA bus.
I think the box cutter incident happened to poor Wes on or near a CTA bus? the same incident mentioned in the lyrics of He's Doing Time in Jail
Another classic
Wesley is the shit
Goats!?
This song is me.
RAW
wesley was my fucking hero
FUCK YEAH
Ah yeah, the good old Green Limousine!
This is much more WESLEY WILLIS than the last bit of sh*t I heard.
For at least the second year round, I should have been a sheep prostitute as a fun costume for Halloween.
in 1989 my cta bus rides ended in hell torture hell rides

in 1989 my cta bus joy rides ended in demon hell torture hell rides
