Thanks very much. Love your videos. So eloquent and informative...always with that little bit of unique quirkyness! ...Why has this had a 'dislike'...whatever is wrong with people!?!...
I'm interested in making a laminate bow in the future! Can you possibly discuss some common mistakes either you (doubtful as you're an expert) or a beginning bowyer might make while making a laminate bow and how to avoid them? - your favorite Texan
Hi Philip, very informative videos ,rhanks a lot.can you tell me the way you would remove an old horn nock from a bow.? I have been asked to replace a bottom nock on an old bow.I know I can simply grind it off but was wondering how you would do it.kind regards MERVYN Patterson
Fantastic!!! This was just the vid I needed to set up my own bowbench and jig, tank you very much - love this channel! :D Just a curiosity question, are you mr. Richard Head, or is it you farther?? Just something I have been pondering about...
On your Tillering rack, where are you measuring your zero from in order to get your measurements along the length of the board? I’m not quite sure of where I need to base my measurements from. Cheers.
Hi, draw length is measured form the back of the bow, so it depends on what type of bow you are making and its depth of handle as to the position on the tiller.
I am not sure in what context you mean, you can essentially do what you want with your own bow, most clubs wont want you shooting that sort of head at their targets as it will tend to damage them, what exactly is your concern?
Richard Head Longbows Ah my concern is whether the bows arrow shelf in a modern recurve takedown bow, a long bow, or such in the traditional bows handle?. My real concern was the modern recurve bows shelf being made of soft easily tearable material such as leather, pleather, velcro, rubber or such?. What about my bow shelf's durability or life... will it be low or equal to normal shooting. I was just wondering given primitive bows tend to be having weaker draws than longbows you see, thus I ask our of sheer curiosity.
I see, an English Longbow, the items we make and sell, do not have a shelf. The only problem would be drawing the head onto your hand and the obvious injury this could cause. I have no idea how long a shelf will put up with a sharp head hitting the shelf, probably not long! I would not recommend drawing the arrow head onto the shelf of any bow.
I don't know what happened to the dinosaur there beside the window he died from the dust or from the cold maybe he is on his side because it's comfy yeah , he is napping that's all , he's ok
That old vice of your granddad's is great :-) The extenders look handy... save getting "bowyers back"
lol, yes, Bowyer`s back seems to be a common trait.

Thanks for the kind words, no idea why it's had a dislike, perhaps it was the KY jelly!

Thank you!
Very nice... simple, efficient, professional... as expected.
BTW, most sites average 10% likes to views. You are well over that. Congrats.

Hi, glad you liked the video, I would boil it off, but then, I use glue than can soften in extreme heat.
If I want to make a good bow, is it necessary to put the KY jelly and the thong in the drawer?
Do you have them within reach?

Hi, glad the video was useful to you, thanks for the kind words. I am Philip Head, Richard (who is in plenty of the videos too) is my father.
Arhh, thanks for clarifying :) Good day to you.
no worries

@Richard Head Longbows Can you shoot stone arrowheads with a longbow? Is it also possible on a modern recurve take down bow? Just curious!
Hi, do you mean flint heads?
Richard Head Longbows Yes.Can you also shoot obsidian heads on any trad. bow as well?
