Deepest thanks for this wonderful advice. Practicing what you just learned in the lesson right after the lesson reinforces it into memory. 🙏🏻✨✨✨

Great advice Susan. This is so true!!! I always try to practice the same day after my piano lesson. Although it is not immediately after my lesson, I found practicing the same day and implement what I learned from my piano lesson that day helps with memory retention of the materials.

As ever, more great advice from Susan. However I've come across and practiced something else which I have found to be even more helpful. It comes from established neuroscience research. During each practice session, have a few brief pauses up to 30 seconds or so where you simply try to blank your thoughts as if in meditation. This works even more effectively than sleep if you do it properly. You ideally should also try to grab 10 to 15 minutes during the day the sooner after your practice or lessons the better and do the same thing. This causes your brain to iterate repeatedly on a subconscious level through what you have been physically repeating on the keys or any new information you have ingested and has the potential to embed more deeply new information. Of course there's no substitute to regular practice coupled with full restful sleep but this additional technique can make a difference. I've certainly found that to be very helpful. I remember much more than I did before. Try it. Nothing to lose. Go do the research if you have doubts. It's all out there. Meditation in general is massively underestimated in terms of enhancing learning of new material.

Hey Susan! I was wondering if you would post anything to inspire us today, and here is this little gem.
At 2:10, is that Amelie? And at 3:22, I love your sense of humor! And yes, you are so helpful, TY!!
