I met him in the early 90s when he sang and played at a local bar in the town of Fujisawa ... nice man, beautiful singing voice ... great love of American country standards...
@@_s827 I'm not 100% sure but part of his bio is that he was about 10 years old at the end of the war and he learned English and country music from the American GIs stationed in Japan; if fact he spoke English very well, very idiomatic with a very slight southern drawl ... a really warm wonderful guy and a great Ambassador of country music to Japan. The Japanese always referred to him affectionately as "Jimmy San."

The video editor didn’t sync the sound to the video correctly, but it looks like the vocalist really does sing the English words. [The video leads the sound by exactly 2 beats which makes the strumming look correct, but the lip movements aren’t correct. You’ll also see that chord fingerings change 2 beats early. I’d be more convinced it wasn’t Hank Snow if the lip movements were right. Sung amazingly by Jimmy Tokita.
