    Good video,also as added insurance against leakage,put new o ring seals under pump bolts with a little sealer,glue the torque convertor seal in front pump before you drive it in and also glue the seal retainer on also,retainer doesnt do much anyway,to help keep the seal from blowing out!

      I had one lying around i was trying to replace the 2-4 band on and i couldn't get the pump to line back up without destroying it. Pretty sure i broke something heard a loud crack when i tightened down the pump bolts. Maybe the teflon washer shifted and got crushed?

    Hi Scotties will it cause a problem later if the pump is replaced without rebuilding the transmission?

    • @ScottiesHobbies
      @ScottiesHobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure if a new pump will cause the problem but I feel like if you are going to remove the transmission to remove the pump you might want to take the extra time sure time to rebuild it. A weak pump can cause the clutches to wear down faster and the 2-4 band to wear down faster. It is possible the poorly efficient pump did more damage.

    • @carlodonnell146
      @carlodonnell146 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ScottiesHobbies I can't remember where, but I'm sure that I read somwhere that replacing the pump without rebuilding the trans. can cause the old O-RINGS to fail because of the increased pressure from the new pump; it may depend on just how many miles the transmission has I suppose. No one can really be sure if and when it will happen and to who. IT IS FOOD-FOR-THOUGHT if nothing else. And I may have to replace flex-plate on my 2001 Dodge Ram, so I'm thinking that I should replace the torque converter as well; and now with the front pump problems I'm seeing on videos, should I go one step further and replace the pump too and so it goes haha ha funny.

    • @ScottiesHobbies
      @ScottiesHobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carlodonnell146 The O ring situation is a possibility too. I tend to be a little extreme when I am taking something apart. In your situation with the flex plate and all I would be replacing everything I took off with new parts. I hate to do jobs multiple times because I did not replace something that was simple while I was there. Especially with the 4L60E transmission, I always recommend. If you have over a 100000 miles and and you are having any transmission problems get ready for a complete rebuild for a complete rebuild. That would include a new torque converter as well.

    Have a 96 1500 Silverado 2x2 which lost all gears and showed no fluid drop. So I replaced pump with a used one, however I,m having a hard time getting the pump to slide down onto drum. Did exactly as the video shows except the zip tie tightening step, I assumed sine it was used It wasnt required. Does anybody have any suggestions or is there another possible cause. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Will a transmission pump make noises if it was

    • @ScottiesHobbies
      @ScottiesHobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not always will make sound. But if you think a pump is not working. Check the trans fluid with the truck off. Then check with the fluid with the truck running. If the level doesn't change the pump is probably not working properly. But is it a clogged filter? Clogged cooler lines? Or defective pump?

    • @johnclagett5114

      @carlodonnell146 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      see if you can buy new bolts and then you can cut the old ones and keep them as a tool for the future; at least that's what I like to do anyway.

      Yes sir. Also is there any variation in the process for an 09 1500 silverado. Trans code is 9lpd. As far as the valve body,what needs to be disconnected before removing the pump. Also do you have the link for the yellow bushing. And no worries. I was in the process of swapping converters. Once I pulled the converter the stator shaft was smooth. Barley any splines. Would I be able to luck out and just change the converter. Pump and any necessary seals? Thank you for you're reply.

      @@ScottiesHobbies funny story when I was 18 I did my first transmission rebuild 87 Ford ranger. I didn't read the part in the manual about centering the pump. So the funny part was when I stabbed that sucker back in it wasnt straight and instead of figuring out why I just prayed the tail over about 5 inches to get the mount in the cross support. Drove that truck about 10 miles before the torque seal blew. Surprisingly I got a new seal and centered the pump it ran great. I didn't have money for the tool so I guessed I could use the tc and just got lucky, done it ever since.
