Thank you for this creative and informative video. The Greek historian Herodian, who was contemporary of emperor Elagabalus, refers to him similarly to the Roman historian Cassius Dio, who was also contemporary to Elagabalus. Therefore, all the weird and obnoxious things mentioned about Elagabalus separately by two contemporary historians should be true.
Nice video, thanks for sharing. As you rightly mention, Elagabalus was not a tyrant but was probably the most incapable emperor in Rome's history. However, his incapability is not surprising considering the fact that he was only 14 years old when he became the Roman emperor. How can a 14-year-old boy rule such a huge empire, meaning that he was probably influenced by his friends and relatives. On another note, it is true that ancient Romans at that time had stereotypes about the men of the Orient as being feminine.
@@penneycason9269 I had to re upload this one because TH-cam wasn’t initially happy with some of the explicit nature of the story 😅 thanks for watching Penney 🙏
Very informative and well crafted video, thank you. Do you think that it might be possible that Elagabalus's reported age may not be correct? I am saying this because his statues show him as a grown up man. Also, it is strange that he could have done all these strange and obnoxious things and rule such a huge empire at the age of 14 years old.
All Emperors of 'African origin' meant that they were either Phoenician or Italian settlers. The province of 'Africa' was what is now Tunisia and what had been Carthage. Also Syrians like Elagabalus probably didn't look like the Arabized Syrians of today but were probably a fair bit more like Greeks and were already looked down on by Romans as effeminate.
That black woman with a mustache was definitely what a roman emperor looked like. Just like Cleopatra wasn't Macedonian, so age couldn't be white. I love how history is finally getting fixed! I, as a dusabked white man and firmwr soldier, feel represented! My feelings are what count, right? Thats how it works for "other" people, so...😂😂😂

In today's crazy zeitgeist, some people would praise him as the first "Trans" emperor and say he was bold and just "misunderstood"...
