  • The symposium kicked off with a panel comprised of the producers, casting directors, and writers who had “front row seats” to the creation of the blockbuster miniseries. Learn how they worked together to honor the service and memory of the veterans while also educating and entertaining the millions who have come to be inspired by Band of Brothers.

Casting was fabulous although these men were 19 - 25 mostly... the bravery of these men and their willingness to give their lives should never be forgotten. I have been to Normandy and seen the graves, walked Omaha and Juno Beach. Everyone should go there once in their lives.

It's amazing to me the number of people and the level of effort that goes into doing something this monumental.

I’m just getting into this series of interviews and it’s fascinating that the cast all came together not only to portray and honor these heroes, now there they are pretty much all gone ( I believe), there stories live on, not only in writings but in the living portrayals from these talented actors - it’s amazing to hear how their lives were impacted by their parts and interactions with the veterans who were actually there.

My grandson's Advanced Placement WWII History Class attended a conference for high school students as his teacher works at the museum when not teaching. The panel included a veteran, writer & actors for the 20th Anniversary of BOB. He even got to ask the vet a question, do research at the museum vast library & even did podcast about the war.
He is an Eagle Scout, is on the Color Guard & Drill Team at his university & gets to meet other vets of the war. He renewed my interest in the war as I started his interest in History.

Absolutely awesome ! The main focus is of the real men that stood decades ago and how they came out of this terrible conflict. The actors and production folks really show their Love for the opportunity of their roles of true hero’s story.

BOB Actors - did their best as actors to play 506th . The originals would call them "Hollywood' replacements, but however be proud of them for trying their very best to portray them.

Band of Brothers is the epitome of WW2 movies/series. It is the gold standard.
Only one question: Band of Brothers and The Pacific were aired on HBO and well received. Why then change the much awaited Masters of the Air away from HBO? Making it harder for most viewers to access?

Very much hope that the PACIFIC series gets as much attention for it's Anniversary.
Those men I believe had it worse.

Although I cannot disagree with your sentiment regarding the PTO there's no reason for the series to receive the same level of attention and praise as Band of Brothers. While the latter follows the incredible story of Easy Company and its journey from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest, The Pacific follows three marines from different regiments and has an entirely different storytelling.
Their heroic acts are by no means questioned but its impact on the audience is incomparable to the way Band of Brothers captivates the viewers by giving them an unmatched feel of compassion and comradery.

They made a mistake when it came to the story of Albert Blithe but nobody’s perfect. This was a groundbreaking series and one if not the finest series about a group of soldiers who served together during WW2. It was great casting for certain.

I can’t explain how much the series and these shows have meant and still mean to me. But I still wish someone had given him some Benadryl! All the itching and scratching just kills me. I am clawing my hide off just watching him. lol.
