It is true he could’ve explain it way better if he talking about a Prophet peace be upon him but I’m not educate enough to really explain but my understanding is that it was not Gods son, but he was a Prophet. And they didn’t kill him, they killed a sent look a like or something like that. If you think about it is most likely true because there are several stories of interference whether it be via the angels (only one I remember) or perhaps something else. I highly doubt Allah SWT would let one of his Prophets be defeated.
