A lot of hustles have been made regarding Miss Manipur, and why not : it is MISS MANIPUR after all. I've been following it these following years and perhaps my expectations have been high somehow. It is quite disappointing how the contestants are throwing in their answers, which are less direct and totally indirect to the question. Of course this ain't any international thing, however there should be a certain level, as in standards on how you present yourself at the State level. Kill me because my cousin of 14 yrs knows what "Ethics" is though he has been scoring average marks for 2 consecutive exams in English. So also language shouldn't be any disruption to being crowned Miss Manipur but if one feels that she might not be able to answer in a coherent way, she can give her answer in Manipuri right! I mean there's no restriction made that you should only answer in English. And to be honest it is somehow embarrassing that people of other states will be watching this and obviously, they gonna make fun of how the contestants made so many grammatical errors.. humans err and stage fright exists too but come on you are in a beauty pageant please find your words and create sense out of it. Contestant 8 was very good though she got lost while trying to describe a woman's role in the society. Why do I feel that most contestants were interested in talking about humanity only and failed to give good answers!? Veronica has so many fans all over because she's a TH-camr and got good vocational skills too. I was expecting her too to be among the top 5 because comparatively she's acceptable. Sadly she ain't there, maybe because her perspective of answering the question wasn't acceptable either. For someone who has done Literature, I believe it's not too wise to generally start questioning men and their patience for any answer. Feminism is more about embracing womenhood and this may not necessarily require women to deny that the society still has good men. I don't mean to be harsh but Contestants 6 and 3 were not up to the mark, and Veronica could have been among top 5 instead of one of them. I personally agree Veronica's answer wasn't satisfying, but better than that of contestants 3 & 6. Contestants 2 & 12 were cut right to the point. Precise. Lastly the lights God please I'm sure these ladies look much better than how they looked on stage.🤦 - a well wisher who's feeling low because "expectations" all down the drain. Note : it isn't wrong to expect!!
I see a lot of comments on how bias the judges are..but personally, i think Raima deserves the winning crown based on the two q&a rounds.. her answer is to the point.. there is clarity and just the right amount of confidence. I am not Meitei, but from one of the hill districts. Of course, the organisers can look into having more representation from the hill districts..better publicity and also more women from other communities need to come forward to participate.. it should be a platform where all communities have equal representation and where the best wins! Afterall it is Miss Manipur not Miss Meitei or Miss X Y community... Kudos to the organisers for the effort and dedication.. I had seen the audition so i can see the result of your hard work in grooming them..thats noticeable and commendable👏 My humble suggestions..the costume designing took us back down the years.. 80's 90s theme unless that was the intention. And.. Lighting..it was like playing peekaboo🤗...not very pleasant to watch. All the best in the coming years👍

Six hours for a miss contest program? what on Earth is happening ? Year after year . you would have to bring along lunch and dinner to watch a live program like this. Kudos to the ladies for standing that long and tolerating such an unorganized event. In fact the organizers should be paying them! By the hours ! The organisers need to really improve. it is high time. The lighting is so shitty the girls don't even look pretty than they actually are! And what on earth are they wearing ? curtains? What dull host and hostess. it made me sleep halfway through the contest. if you don't know the meaning of ethics and you dare to give your response in English , bite me ! how are you in this contest? who selected you and u waste time looking for a dictionary to translate ethics in Manipuri. Add to that, you wanna respond in English. Why do you say it's a beautiful question if you dont understand it? contestants have full freedom to answer in Manipuri . why didn't they make use of the opportunity? what makes them feel that if they answer in English they are gonna win the contest. Veronica might have many followers in Instagram and TH-cam and tremendous support but honestly her answer wasn't that great to secure a place in top five. But then comparatively she did ok. She could have been in top 5 after all. maybe some of the contestants gave such long essay type answers with no content, that the judges also forgot what the previous contestants answered. it somehow seemed like an English class roleplay learning to speak English for the first time. Isn't it embarrassing for us that people from other states might actually watch this? Where are we? Stone age? Let's stop pretending we are doing good. It's really bad. so bad. I think Raina did fairly well . she was the only one without a fake accent and somebody who gave straight answers and kept it short.
Your comment seems harsh to me regarding the contestant not knowing the meaning of "ethics" , well to me it seems it is totally okay to not know a meaning of a English word after all it wasn't our mother tongue. In my opinion it is the fault of the organising committee for not translating each and every question in manipuri if they claim that the contestants can answer in any language that they feel comfortable with and if possible I feel that that the organising committee should also translate the meaning of the question in the language that the particular contestant speaks(if she belongs to tribal community).
I'd love it if they read it. You are enrolling in a miss contest because you feel that you are confident enough to be there. There should be some certain standards for girls to take part in such a contest not just a pretty face. Also, Ethics is something that we should all be aware about .its a part of our personality. it's what moulds us and shapes our mind and thoughts and actions. It's not rocket science?! I would expect the contestants to at least know some meanings if I were the organiser. And even as a viewer of a state level beauty contest . I agree with you about Veronica's way of responding.
