Beautiful and inspiring as always. I need a kick in the rump to get a set on. Could you please show us how to do an encapsulated nail for a fill. (Not using a form) When I use your technique, the tip of the nail gets too thick and I end up filing part of my design off. I have tried reducing bulk by putting my bit under a nail. That does help some. A similar example to demonstrate would be a nail with a tip versus a form I love all your work and you make me such a better Nail Tech. Thank you.
Hi MJ ! I got a horizontal crack down two nails where i bumped my nails and after removing them i seen my natural nail separated horizontally. How would you deal with this sort of damage? Would you wait for it to grow it before starting a new set or do you have a video you can refer me to please
@ That’s interesting. I do have a couple clients that permanently have cracks horizontally down there nail. Their clients that have ridges and as they get older, they get deeper & can create a negative space horizontally… (I’m not saying that you have that kind of nail. It sounds like you hit it and it happened) So Thats why they have to have nails or an enhancement on so they don’t split and that could end up very painful. What I would do it cut off the entire artificial nail enhancement at the fridge edge and filed down the product as much as possible making sure you’re not going side to side cause you’ll flip it up more. Going from cuticle to free edge removing product. Prep at the same way with the 150 grit. Protein bond twice. If you’re using hard gel, take your base gel apply it and seal it. I would do a couple coats of base gel one coat cure then another coat cure. Do not wear your nails long. You could wear shorter to medium. Closer to the shorter side. This will act as a cast and we’ll hold it together. It’ll take approximately to two 3 1/2 months to grow out depending on the length of your natural nail bed. So continue wearing the length I recommended and it should grow out fine. 🤗
@vibenaillounge perfect that's what I was thinking too to just do a short to medium enhancement. I just wasn't sure if it was safe to use products on the exposed skin on the Crack down the middle of my nail where it split. But I guess it's no different than the skin at the free edge? Thank you for this explanation. I didn't realize ridge nails can crack like that. Mine are just due to bumping my enhancements:(
@vibenaillounge yes I have naturally thinner nails so I have to be careful with removal you make using the drill Look so easy and effortless. It's a fine line between using it well and having it cause damage. Have you ever used silk wrap over a damaged nail/crack?
@@raya74 honestly you could use the e-file at a 150 grit when you get close to your natural nail put the carbide bit away and go 150. You could use it on 1200 RPMs but with zero pressure just contact and move it you do not need to go over it a few times you just need to text her the surface. You should be worried short hard gel nails and let them grow out for three months. You could keep shortening them and that’s the healthiest your Nails will be. After the three months you could start going longer. I promise it’ll work just remember to not put pressure on your nail bed. It’s turning already that’s doing the work for you. As far as silk wraps, I did that back in the 90s. You’re better off wearing fiber gel if you wanna go that route. 🫶🏻💅🏻✨
