  • Starting in the 13th century as a small community of hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land, the Discalced Carmelite Nuns hold a special place in New Orleans history as one of the oldest orders in the city.

St Teresa of Avila was from Spain, Ste Therese of Lisieux was from France. The statues being shown are of Ste Therese of Lisieux.

I think the narrator said a wrong name. Because beside st. Teresa avila, carmelite also devoting themselves to live a life like theresia lisieux..

Lovely, but I am afraid St Teresa of Avila and St Therese of Lisieux are being confused.

The commentary here is confusing the foundress St.Teresa of Avila, feast on 15th Oct., with St Therese of Lisieux ( the one of the roses) which is on on 1st October.

You don’t even know the difference between St Teresa of Avila and St Therese of Lisieux. Did you do any research before, during, and after the video?

October 1 is the feast of St Therese of the Child Jesus, October 15 is the feast of St Teresa of Jesus (of Avila).

Little has changed??!! I would say a lot has changed. They now wear "dresses" and they have the new rite of the "mass". They also have modified habit etc. NOT GOOD

Why would anyone want to be a nun?

      Is a call

    • @hopetikvah4906

If you don't experience the call it can be very difficult to understand, as it seems like so much to give up, but when a woman becomes a nun she receives all that she gives back and more. In poverty, silence, and prayer, she receives many graces, drawing close to God and will find true fulfillment. It seems strange from a worldy perspective, that one could give up so much to lead such a seemingly limited life, but it is a beautiful mystery. If the nun's heart is in the right place, the cloister doesn't seem claustrophobic, but encompasses the whole of heaven and earth.
