Well, Killian is not innocent here too. He did the same thing in the past, remember? He challenged to a duel a man who didn't know how to fight and who also didn't even have the condition for it. Rumple had a problem in one of his legs, he needed a crutch to walk and could hardly stand, Killian did this knowing for sure that he would win that fight, he didn't care that it was an unfair fight, he just wanted to humiliate Rumple in front of everyone. For being weak if he fought(and obviously lost because he wouldn't have a chance) or if everything happened as Killian imagined and he don't fight, for being a coward(because yes, he already hoped that Rumple wouldn't fight because Milah told to him about Rumple ran away of the war, about how she thought he was a coward and so on... also, it's possible note seeing how Killian acts and speaks that he was trying to make rumple more scared)
I like Hook, but I respectfully disagree with the tagline in the sense I don't like how later seasons focus so much on him (in excess, in my opinion) and it seemed like other characters who were equally as important just fell away into the background and were forgotten.

The thing is Rumple likes to put the blame on others, he was a coward and didn't care about his wife's happiness. This was a time where a women's position would have been linked to her husbands, she was the coward's wife, they could have changed that if they moved as she asked them too. But Rumple refused, instead wanting her to stay in depressive circumstances. Hook offered her a way out, but she couldn't take their son since a ship would be dangerous. Rumple shouldn't have done what he didn't, Milah was not blameless but her unhappiness mattered too.
Hook is a great villain... Sure. Let's go with that. It's been 4 years since this came out so I won't pretend that this is some sort of spoiler. I'm sure it's not. But he's a far better love interest than he is a villain. In fact, his villainy is so sporadic that I couldn't even say he's good at it. He's good at flip flopping depending on the situation. He's just not a villain in the basic terms of what a villain is. He's self-serving even if that means being on the good team. In that aspect he's extremely good at being a pirate because being a pirate is about flipping to the side of the team that you think is going to win even if it doesn't fall under your morals. He's really good at flip flopping teams.

Milha has to be my most hated character in Once...and while I won't outright say she deserved to die, I didn't feel sorry for her either. Hook....it's more complicated. I adore his actor, and I hated the character at first (you were supposed to hate him though...since he WAS a villain), but then again Rumple is my favorite character, so that's probably natural bias XD
I hate Milah too. She was a bitch and abandoned her son. Sure, she could do what she wanted, she was her own person, but abandoning her child is something unforgivable since she did it for herself (unlike basically everyone else in the show.) But thing is, Rumple abandoned him too, for his magic. Sure, he spent the next however long, trying to get back to him, but he still abandoned him and chose magic over him. With Killian, I love him and I always have. Sure, he was a villain, but people loved Regina and Rumple as villains, you included (Rumple, Idk about Regina for you) and they were much worse villains! For me, I still don't know how I feel about Rumple or Regina. IMO, Rumple's storyline has been overused, you'll understand what I mean, I don't wanna explain though because spoilers... Regina, she sometimes really annoys me, but I think I still love her character... I do love Rumple, but he sort of just keeps repeating his same mistakes over and over again and it's boring after a while...
