    This is great for edges that roll up such as fine knits.

    Hi Denise! There are a few tricks to this problem. First, you can change your needle to the smallest size, like a 70/10. If that doesn't work, try sewing with some tissue paper under the fabric. Once your finished, you gently rip out the tissue paper. Water soluble stabilizer is also a great choice. Please let me know if these work! If not, we can try something else!

    Sarah, how do you know SOOOO much about sewing? You know everything from which foot (feet?) to use, what kind and size of needle, what to do with every kind of fabric, etc.; I wish I knew even a quarter of what you know!

    A Roller Foot, Teflon Foot, and even a Walking Foot would work great. However if you are working with a faux leather spandex (or any kind of stretch) snake skin - I would definitely use a Walking Foot.

    I used the roller foot instead of a walking foot compared how they both worked and the roller foot did a better job in my opinion. I really don't even like the walking foot or the job it does that is my opinion.

    Thank you, I was sewing an edge/binding on a vehicle rug and it kept bunching up. I guess this will help.

    I believe your machine is a low shank. When you go to our site, enter 151 in the search box and it will take you to the proper roller foot for your machine. Thank you!

    If the roller foot is so amazing (and it sure looks like it), why would anyone use a normal foot? I mean, I can understand that there are purpose specific feet, like a walking foot or a bias binder foot but they have definite drawbacks when it comes to other types of sewing. But this looks like a pretty versatile foot and I'd be curious to know if I could put this on my machine and forget that I even have a normal foot?

      You definitely could use this for regular sewing. I've used it as a general purpose foot many times. The only reason you might change it is when you need more visibility for one reason or another, as the roller is blocking the view.

      The curve has to touch vertical line left side n horizontal line down
      Wer both the line touching the curve

    I have a singer 7470 and light fabric seems to get all caught up down under on me. Is there a presser foot or a way to stop my light single fabrics from going in and getting stuck?

    I'm going to sew 4mm thickness of faux leather (it is 2 layers of 2mm+2mm each) and seemingly my machine can't go with walking foot, and if I purchase this roller foot is that could be good for my work? Thank you

    Thank you! I find your videos so useful! I do have a question. Are there different uses between the roller foot and the walking foot?

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** The Walking Foot is a little more versatile because it also sews bulky fabric and is essential for quilting.

    Can anybody tell me if the roller foot works on the three layers of a quilt? I am currently using a walking foot and find it fine. Does the roller foot do the same job?

    Can you tell me the difference between a teflon foot and a roller foot when sewing slippery fabrics. I am making a raincoat for my dog using a old rain coat (the regular yellow one - kind of rubber more that vynil). I used a teflon foot but still when I am topstitching my machine skips stitches. What am I doing wrong? Would the roller foot be better? Would it scratch my fabric? Thanks,

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A teflon foot and a roller foot are both great options for slippery fabric. The roller foot can make marks on your fabric, depending on what it is; however, it does help the fabric move through nicely. Are you using a Microtex needle? That can make a huge difference!
      Skipped stitches can be caused by other things as well. Try rethreading your machine, making sure that the presser foot is up when doing so. This will ensure that the thread is between the tension disks.
      Also, increase your stitch length. You don't your stitches too close together. The seam will tear easily.
      The teflon foot should work well for what you are using it on. It's also possible that you have a burr somewhere. Here is a video where our technician shows you what to look for when you are getting skipped stitches and thread breakage. th-cam.com/video/Ii3fmpbAIgg/w-d-xo.html
      I hope that this helps!

      If you have high quality feed dogs and a thin quilt, it might work. Give it a try and see what happens.

      Hi, Gizmo! Do you mean the line markings on the needle plate?

    • @iluvindia01
      @iluvindia01 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sweetheart!! Don't understand the markings 😬🙈

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries! The line markings are actually measurement markings in metric and via the imperial system. For instance, if you see the marking 5/8" it means that with your needle in the center position, guiding your fabric along the 5/8" marking will yield a 5/8" seam allowance. Most needle plates all have at least a 1/4" inch marking and 5/8" marking. It's all meant to help you to stitch a straight, consistent seam allowance.
