That is not what Nanami's technique does. His technique creates weak points in a part of the target. Instead of adding damage it weakens the defense of the objective. Why does this matter? Well because when an enemy's defense is so high your damage gets easily nullified and added damage is really small. But if you weaken the defense your damage cannot ever be so cut down. Also damage amplification only boost your own, meanwhile making the enemy weakers means allies also have their damage boosted. If Nanami trained with someone as a team like Yuji and Todo, he could have teached such person to also see the 7/3 and then both attack weak spots at the same time. Nanami's technique has applications that sadly where never explored.
