- Welcome back, my fellow historians, to the 11th episode of Season 2 of the Histprians Lounge. Today, I am joined by Professor LaMonica as we discuss the "dress rehearsal" for the US Army during WW1, the 1916 Punatvie expedition in Mexico. For those who remember Professor LaMonica, he is a Professor of History and Coordinator of the Global Studies Program at Delaware County Community College in Media, Pennsylvania. He holds history and global studies degrees from LaSalle University, Villanova University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Professor LaMonica’s publication topics include the US Army’s 1916 Punitive Expedition into Mexico, tactical development in the US Army during the Great War, and Cold War diplomacy. He resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In today's episode, we dive deep into the history of the 1916 expedition by the US Army into Mexico, hunting the elusive Pancho Villa. Throughout this episode, we explore the lead-up to the event, the roles of the Mexican and US Governments, and how many scholars view this period in history as the US's first insurgent operation in the 20th century.
